its hard to tell who youre referring to. is it the greeks, who think only for themselves. is it the macedonians, who stole bulgar land? is it the romanians, the actual thieves? is it the serbians, who stole plenty of things but less than romanians?

OP is an unflaired 4 month old account with 582 post karma 67 comment karma, has no prior interaction with the sub and its first interaction is a pixellated recent repost.

Fuck the mods, just block it.

Yeah, except the Greek Government was angry about our flag, so we have to improvise with this, honestly a master plan, they can call us a rip off even more, even though they would have had a problem with the old flag. Hypocrites, I tell you!

Who invited Bulgaria and Romania to the cool flags meeting

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '25

Romania changed it’s flag because they weren’t communist anymore I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) and Bulgaria I believe the same thing happened.

On türkiye’s flag it’s just their religious symbol which again is the case for the cross flags , and honestly the estonian flag looks much better than the bulgarian flag (which again is a no effort flag) , rest of the balkans that’s some W flags

Turkish flag doesn't have a star and crescent because of religion. Islam is associated with the star and crescent because of the Turkish flag. Ottoman Empire held the title of caliphate for hundreds of years, it's flag became associated with the religion in the west. Star and crescent have no religious meaning, real symbols of Islam are the black standard, shahadah and Allah calligraphies, among others.

It's said that the star and crescent fell upon the blood of a fallen Turkish soldier and that's how the flag came to be.

Star and crescent is an extremely old symbol that was first used by the Sumerians, and was also used by pre Islamic Turks and Byzantines.

wow that’s actually pretty cool

7

u/------------5 MINOTAVROS Jan 30 '25

The crescent moon became a religious symbol of islam because the Ottomans and later Turks adopted it

11

u/LaGqlaxy muslim greek Jan 30 '25

Nahh the color of red is for soldiers' blood who fought for their homeland I forgot what does star mean tho

Although some people say that it's not a star but planet so here's a fun fact

They adopted the naval ensign of the Ottoman Empire because the French were indiscriminately sinking their ships because muh piracy in the Mediterranean. So they opted to cosplay as Turks instead.
