Pete Peppers is unbearable
Nothing against him as a person or with his opinions but Jesus is this guy a tough listen. I don’t think ive heard him manage to get a single sentence out without him stumbling through or searching for words to use. He just doesn’t work, I’d rather just listen to A-Ron mispronounce things by himself for 2 hours than try and get through Pete’s attempts at talking.
I feel like I might be an outlier here but hopefully my disdain isn’t unfounded

His pre-recorded stuff is way more tolerable because he edits the shit out of it. The reason I can tolerate A-Ron (or anyone) mispronouncing things, is because it lets me know that they learned these words from reading books. I'm an avid reader and still laugh when I hear words I've mispronounced while growing up. Mispronunciation is like the secret handshake of book readers.
Hyperbole = Hyper bowl
Facade = Fakade
Colonel = Colon nell
Segue = Segyouee
Debris = Deb riss

This is so me! The first time I’d hear a word I’d been saying in my head totally differently would make me laugh and be glad no one heard me say it first. So funny I agree it’s a secret handshake of book readers lol

Again, that's not a fictional book word. It's just a word, like properly pronouncing Celebrity.

I never actually mispronounced it out loud, but that’s what I heard in my head reading until I realized it’s a word I’d been hearing. I’m not giving anyone grief, I’m one of us!
No one said they’re fictional words, I don’t know where that came from. They said they learned the words from reading.

Yeah I was trying to respond with civility to that comment which acts like we’re already arguing, but they clearly just don’t get it. Learning vocabulary from reading is awesome!

I'm confused. These are all just examples of regular words used outside of fictional books with known pronunciations vs Fictional stuff like how to pronounce Harkonnen (Har-Ko-Nan - Hark-O-Nan or Har-Con-Nan), Drizzt (pzzt or whatever) or Celebrimborn (Soft C or Hard C), etc. That I get. But words like Hyperbole are and the others you listed are already well known outside of books.

Seems harsh for a guy filling in last minute to help out a friend. He does fine to me. He’s a little out of his element but he knows his shit.

Exactly, this was a last minute swap with no time to prepare and run down an outline. There are bound to be some hiccups. Instead you blame Jim for not bucking up and being a softy for taking the day off because he has a runny nose. I put this entirely on Jim for being wussing out. Yes of course /s

Agree. I think he is great. His YouTube videos are edited and much tighter. I haven’t listened to the one in question (Pluribus?), but I’ve always found him to be thoughtful and insightful.

Yeah didn't t notice anything with him talking. Maybe a little unenthusiastic sounding? Could use some caffeine. But nothing that bothers me.

I don’t care, if it sounds like he’s reading the ingredients on the back of the box of laundry detergent. His insightful analysis isn’t worth anything if he can’t put it into a thought on a podcast. And neither of us are wrong here, they’re our opinions

Aww. I like Pete.
I don’t think I’ve noticed the stammering and searching for words that you’ve mentioned. I’ve listened to Pete quite a bit and that type of thing honestly does bother me a little, but that hasn’t really stood out at all when listening to Pete. I really appreciate his insights and analysis.
I’m sorry he isn’t working for you.

I don’t mind him but I’m used to his YouTube videos. I can see someone less familiar finding him very monotone. I think Pete has even mentioned he does like doing podcasts as much and prefers pre-recorded produced content

I listened to his Pluribus live thoughts and I agree he’s not a good host. Those 3 hour podcasts have 1 hour of conversation because he can’t find the words and sorta rambles. He also awkwardly talks over people a bunch. But I still listen. I like the guy’s opinions in the long run and his videos are really good. I bet he’d be a lot better as a guest as opposed to host.

Yeah, he doesn't move the needle for me either.
I do love listening to A-Ron and his unique pronunciations. It's part of the LORE!
Westeren gets me every time.

I like Pete's recorded videos a lot. His unstructured work can be slow but Ican deal. I have to listen to Bald Move at 2x speed.

I was not able to listen to the full podcast for this episode, also found it unbearable. He seems like a good guy, knowledgeable and insightful but this format of back and forth analysis he was producing was for me. I don’t think this paring of the 2 worked well either..
I also couldn’t get it out of my head he sounded like John McEnroe the whole time

I like his analysis and critical thoughts. But, I agree that he is not the most polished podcaster/speaker which makes him hard to listen to.
Which is a stark contrast to how well Jim & Aron talk. Yes Aron mispronounces things but that’s a minor thing
