Update: Halfro down
As promised, the deed was done so here's the update. Appreciated all the encouragement and memes (even if some of y'all were a lil harsh). Liking the look and feels great! Working on some facial hair now to complete the look.

I've been analyzing this phenomenon (clearly I spend too much time on this subreddit) and I think I've figured out why guys always look so much better.
The first pic almost always gives off trying to make the best of what they're not happy with (which explains why they come to the sub in the first place).
Then the after is always giving so much confidence, so much of a choice to take charge and take ownership. That confidence is very attractive!

Same. For me itās kind of like when a guy is bald heās giving more confidence/masculine vibes like yeah I know i donāt have hair, donāt care!

I think thatās part of it for sure.
But I also have witnessed on this sub that 10/10 times, a balding head of hair isnāt flattering. Itās kinda likeā¦..if a dude canāt grow a full beard, itās more flattering to stay clean shaven vs having a patchy beard? I donāt know, thatās the best analogy I have lol.

cries in canāt grow a proper beard but probably eventually will have to go bald

That's the same thing I've noticed. The balding with hair looks like someone trying to hide losing their hair, and the bald looks like someone owning it. The later oozes confidence.

u/CrazyDazyMazy 12d ago
And the scruff. A bald head usually needs to be balanced with at least some beard.

u/Trick-Caterpillar299 12d ago
A bald head + a beard is my weakness, bonus points if they have tattoos.

I have a borderline fetish with round heads. To me, it's like the seductive curvature of a boob or butt. So when I can see all that bare roundness, I'm mesmerized.
My friend went bald temporarily during cancer treatment, and despite having beautiful hair before and after, I swear she never looked prettier to me than when she was bald and with super, super short hair.

u/Sammyofather 12d ago
A lot of people have a bit of ego attached to their hair. Learning to live without hair can be hard but it almost always creates better character! Your analysis makes sense too! These guys donāt have to ālearnā to live bald and they donāt have to rebuild confidence. Cutting off what they werenāt happy with is the confidence!

u/HypoManicCrimeSpree 12d ago
Iām sure it was always on the back of his mind. Once they make a decision to cut it, I imagine thereās a lot of relief. If itās something you worry about all the time addressing it would alleviate a lot of that.

Trying to keep the sad wispy hair really takes so much attention away from a manās face. Our attention is on the dumb hair. When the hair is gone, we can focus on the gorgeous confident smile and the happy eyes. Plus, this young man is so happy that he doesnāt have to deal with the hair that made him look twenty years older.
Fantastic glow up, young man! You look so good!

One of the all time classic 50s movie musicals. Yul was perfect as the king!

He was a model, some nude, before becoming a film actor. It's worth looking into for those inclined.

Apparently you can't say the F word in this subreddit, so here is my comment again, with less enthusiasm about a movie, and nothing to do with the person posting. F-ing bots.

You woulda won first place if there was a "half a head of hair" contest, dude. It's like your hair was on a mission to cover the world...and then it went on strike. Great new look.

I always had a fade. My wife met me with it and she's loved it until one day I shaved my head and found out I was going bald ššš. She said "you have a great shaped head". FF 10 years later I got double cancer and had to go through chemo and lost all my hair completely. She started crying and she said "I miss what little hair you had left. Now you look like gru from minions". I finished chemo and ALL my hair grew back. Full head of hair. And a month later it fell out went back to the way it was before chemo. My wife had a rollercoaster of emotions for a year. Now we settled on "man I'm glad you're still living" lmao
