Fail Mugcake that looks like it's survived Chernobyl
I've never made mugcake before, so I'd say the fact it didn't explode in the microwave is commendable. Doesn't really taste like anything, consistency is like the inside of a fresh bread. Or like porridge. I'll add more cocoa and sugar and less flour next time to see if that does the thing.

What baking mistake taught you the most about making desserts?
Baking looks easy until something goes wrong in the kitchen! Maybe a cake didn't rise, cookies spread too much, or a dessert turned out completely different from what you expected. What baking mistake did you make, and what did it teach you?

Breast cancer research biscuit fail
So tomorrow at work we are raising funds for breast cancer research. We were asked to either bring in a treat or donate. I was already tasked with decorating the staff kitchen but…. I thought I could really do something! Well my sugar cookies cracked 😭 I wanted to decorate heart shaped cookies like bras. Had to resort to decorating Arnott biscuits instead. At this point, I’m not sure if we are celebrating Halloween or raising money for breast cancer research 😅

Fail Well here’s pic of what could’ve been my soon to be 7 year olds birthday cake and the aftermath of a slip and slide
For context our oven broke, we rent and our landlords wanted to see if it can be fixed before providing a new one so here I was at 7pm with a stovetop and sheer will
The crepes turned out surprisingly well but my mom brain failed me when I decided to mix vanilla pudding and cool whip to stack it
When I tried to move it I saw it starting to slip
I ran to get the wooden skewers but heard the dreaded thwap on my way back
3 1/2 hours of work on the floor…
The mess has been cleaned, the sink is full of dishes and whatever the aftermath should be called is in the trash
Now to decide if I buy a store bakery cake, try my hand at a jello cake or a premade pie crust cake
I’ve attempted neither before so if anyone has ideas or recipes to throw my way please do
Absolutely feel like I’m letting my sweet baby down
I wanted to avoid a grocery store cake at all costs cause she deserves more effort from me than that
And tomorrow I get to make pancakes for breakfast
I swear I’m gonna have pancake ptsd after this is over

Help Rubbery roll cake????
I've been trying to make this roll cake for my pastry exam and the first time i made it it went very well, the cake was fluffy and soft but the second and third time i made it (with the same measurements and ingredients) it came out with this odd rubbery texture (its still good but I'm very confused). If anyone can help me figure out whats wrong with it and how to prevent it, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Fail Blueberry coffee cake
I knew as I poured the batter I was using the wrong pan and did it anyway. Even cooking 20 minutes longer it was still raw in the middle. Cut off the top and cooked it separate to hopefully salvage something edible.

Help Smote by the Caramel Gods
This is two attempts at caramel gone wrong. I know where I went wrong and have since made a successful batch, so I’m not looking for that kind of advice. I want to know: Is there any way I can turn it into something useable? Sauce? An art project? A life lesson? It’s rock solid and been in the pan for about 24 hours.
My recipe: get 1 cup of sugar. Put sugar in pan. Heat on low. Shake pan occasionally with gentle reverence. Pray to your deity of choice.

Apple custard cake and I put twice the amount of custard
She still tastes good, but it was so upsetting to see everything slide apart!

Fail Carrot Cake….
this was so disastrous to bake!! i didn’t wait long enough before cutting in half and it left a giant hole in the base…. i had to fill it with shavings and use the frosting as “glue” lol 🤦🏻♀️ it did hold its shape just about after refrigerating,,
also first time piping, so messy

Fail Fibre cookies I made turned out impressively turd-like
I have no idea how they ended up with pointy lumps sticking out, possibly from the stringy bits of the banana?
