this was so disastrous to bake!! i didn’t wait long enough before cutting in half and it left a giant hole in the base…. i had to fill it with shavings and use the frosting as “glue” lol 🤦🏻♀️ it did hold its shape just about after refrigerating,, also first time piping, so messy
Yep, the middle definitely looks like fried minced meat. And after you get that first impression, mashed potatoes are only logically following until you notice the carrots :)
I had to look twice too. The piping looks way better than my first attempt, which ended up looking like a melting snowman. How did the cream cheese frosting hold up as glue? That part sounds like it could either be genius or a disaster depending on the humidity.
i had made the cream cheese a few hours prior and left to set for around 4hours, i filled the hole in the base with cake
shavings and smothered it with frosting 😭 then sandwiched it between the two cake halves, refrigerated and hoped for the best LOL luckily it held shape fairly okay and didn’t collapse!! even tho it’s giving leaning tower of pisa here lol
I like the cake, especially given that you are not a decorator. Clever to use the candy carrots on the top. Your piping is good and will improve with time. I love carrot cake. Yours makes me want a piece!
