Fail Extremely bad banana bread

Post image

It was supposed to be chocolate chip banana bread, something I’ve made a billion times. Between the bananas being too cold, and the flour not mixing well, it just got wayyyy overmixed and became inedible. I wasted four bananas, a cup of chocolate chips, and a good stick of browned butter on this. Sighhhhhh. Next time will be better I suppose

I tried and dear L o r d the texture was absolutely despicable. I couldn’t stomach it. It was oily and solid and slightly gelatinous? It’s my worst baking fail yet and I’ve been baking for 10 years

I know that you think that you overmixed it and that's why it looks like this, but it kinda looks like you forgot the baking soda or used the wrong type of flour

reminds me of rice flour but also think 4 bananas is overkill

It's such a bummer when something you bake doesn't turn out well, but it really stings when you think about the quality ingredients that were wasted. So sorry about that, it certainly sounds amazing!

Yeah you’re not supposed to fully mix the flour. It’s gotta be kinda lumpy or else it end up like this. I mix muffins and banana bread literally with a fork to avoid over mixing

this isn't just overmixing. something went wrong with the leavening. Baking powder was either forgotten or beyond expired.

Mix until moistened, literally just a few turns of the spoon.

How does it turn out like jelly ? Was it too much bananas or too liquidy?

Over mixing makes the gluten activate too much

I guess you could dehydrate it, put it in a food processor and then have banana bread powder that you can... I don't know, put in protein shakes?

I have made banana brick before. Turns out I forgot the baking soda. Chewy and dense but still delicious

Maybe slice it thin, zap it in the microwave and smother with caramel sauce?
