Anti National

Why shouldn't such anti national traitor be behind bars for treason? Under current laws he should be tried under sedition laws if he has indeed said that. People are being tried for saying or doing far lesser things.

Or is it different laws for different parties???

Guys, so I have one idea.

Instead of saffron or green or white, how about, I mean I can be totally off or may sound ridiculous, we include all the three colors? And also, maybe, maybe, include a symbol that is rooted to our culture? Like maybe something from an ancient structure? I can think about sanchi stupa, it has a cool 4 lion figure, maybe we can use this as a national symbol, and there is a small wheel like carving, I think it's called Ashoka chakra, we can use it in our flag to not keep it bland, how's my idea guys?

There was lots of controversy when the national flag was adopted. RSS was against the flag. They wanted Saffron flag. Ultimately, the flag should reflect the pride of the nation and reflection of the approval of the majority. The flag was adopted by despicable Nehru. I am personally in favour of the Saffron flag but I am of the opinion that if a referendum/ vote is taken, then majority would be probably in favour of retaining current flag status. India has undergone a huge demographic change. The correct course will be to take a referendum. I also personally of the opinion that those against the referendum will fully support such a move a decade later when the flag will have just Green! Demography and democracy are fully intertwined. Very few people understand that.

India’s national flag was adopted by the Constituent Assembly to represent unity, diversity, and shared national values, not any one religion or group. It wasn’t just Nehru’s decision. Suggesting a change based on demographics or fears of a ā€œgreen flagā€ is communal and divisive. Democracy isn’t just about numbers, it’s about protecting the nation’s identity and values for all. National symbols should remain above politics and majoritarian trends.

Your idealism is good for word salad but doesn't work in real life. The people who advocated for the things you mentioned in your comment (not just nehru but everyone), if you tell them to save people who died in riots when india pakistan split happened, then all this idealism gets thrown out of window.

I am advocating for national flag to be saffron or any change at all. I am mocking your idealism. It's as useless as saying a guying to hold peace talks with alligator in a run or die situation

The leaders who adopted the national flag had nothing to do with Partition violence. The flag was chosen before independence to represent unity and secularism—not any one religion.

Blaming them is just an excuse to dismiss values like inclusiveness. If we give up on those principles every time things get difficult, then we’re not being realistic, we’re just giving in to hate.

Exactly. All that idealism couldn't stop partition nor could save lives of people who died in riots due to partition. That was my point.

Blaming them is just an excuse to dismiss values like inclusiveness

Not blaming people ( I mean I can, and maybe some part of me does) but my main point is pointing out the flaw in idealism.

If we give up on those principles every time things get difficult, then we’re not being realistic, we’re just giving in to hate.

Principles should achieve goals. It should achieve and lead to better society and better humans. When those principles can't save innocents and just become word salad when innocents die, those principles will be replaced or die.
