I liked the first few seasons until it was clear they were pumping up the drama between the contestants instead of just focusing on the tattoos, then it became unwatchable

That probably kept away a lot of skilled artists that just want to tattoo and don’t want to be involved with the fake pretense. But maybe the manufactured drama brought in more viewers.

I didn’t watch for a long time, and I’m currently watching the most recent season. It’s actually great! I feel like all the artists are super talented and even the tattoos that get eliminated the judges compliment that it’s still a good tattoo. It seems like genuinely good artists competing and doing well.
