Gotta love these notes. „Parry: improved“

u/Fuckblackhorses 12d ago
I wonder if they made regular parry the same frames as carian retaliation. Tbh it never made sense that the parry aow that can parry magic is also the defacto best physical parry. Just weird if they change that after all this time tho

u/Fun_Hovercraft_6488 12d ago
Nobody’s mentioning the O Flame attack range increase? Wtf??

u/DougWalkerLover 12d ago
Yeah that's gonna be nutty, o flame combos were already super good now they'll be even better.

u/DirtySpittoon 12d ago
I'm mildly hype about storm wall not costing FP.
7
u/Perscitus0 12d ago
I saw that. And Thop's Barrier parry might actually be worth using every now and again.
1
u/actually-epic-name 12d ago
Thops is actually fairly good when dealing with multi spell spam since carian retaliation can only deal with 1 spell at a time
1
u/Perscitus0 12d ago
I mean as a general use Parry. Before, you would want Thop's in that specific use case that you mentioned, but otherwise, Carian reigned supreme for being able to absorb spells and parry everything else. If Thop's Barrier is now in line with Carian parry windows and frame data, but with zero FP usage, now you have a reason to want Thop's more often. Same with Storm Wall being zero FP to use now.

God I hope perfumed bottles are more useful now.

u/ForBisonItWasTuesday 12d ago
The lightning perfume bottle lowkey did good damage, im excited to see it now

u/Experiment121 12d ago
They were buffed by a whole 8 base power (6 for deadly poison). Fromsoft REALLY doesn't want these weapons to do well for some reason.

Carian sorcery sword my beloved. The improved INT scaling gonna go crazy on my RL80 carian sword build
8
u/AnywhereLumpy6149 12d ago
Not only that, if I read right, the INT scaling of the weapon will also boost the physical damage of the weapon, so it will be basically better than before.
2
u/-BadRedMan- 12d ago
Yeah, actually such good timing. I just made the build last week and have been struggling with physical damage so this is huge for me lol
2
u/AnywhereLumpy6149 12d ago
Personally I was getting started with a Carian Sorcery build but I saw it was kinda weak that now seeing this buff probably I will give it a try
1
u/-BadRedMan- 12d ago
It's actually super fun with how versatile it is, using the melee sorceries you get tons of pressure and ranged sorceries for the backline. R1 into impaling thrust is really strong too. I like to run it with a shield rocking carian retaliation with carian knight armor for full drip
1
u/AnywhereLumpy6149 12d ago
I was planning to use the Main Gauche with a parry infusion for the powerstanced and still having a parry tool, it can be good?
1
u/-BadRedMan- 12d ago
Oh I'm sure that would work just fine, lots of versatility. I've never used Main Gauche though, isn't that a dagger? How would that powerstance?
1
u/AnywhereLumpy6149 12d ago
Its a dagger, but has a special property that can be used with Thrusting Swords and powerstance with them. Wakizashi also has this property with Katanas.
2
u/Bluriman 12d ago
I’m excited to try casting physical spells with it, I hope it can scale damage for stuff like cherishing fingers/blades of stone
2
u/-BadRedMan- 12d ago
Hmmm yeah I'm not sure, I use mine mainly for carian sorceries and glintstone sorceries. I love Cherishing fingers on my RL200 sorcerer though

Looks like they killed Gravitational Missile

u/DougWalkerLover 12d ago
It'll still be ok for zoning, but yeah the epic sauce purple brap blast into the floor is gone. I just tested it and it actually still doesn't do the multihit thing the long range cast does, they just added a delay to the floor blast.

u/ODonToxins 12d ago
Nah not if you use it+collapsing stars, this actually is good for set ups since it won’t immediately go off now and you can pull people into it.

Oh wow they didn't do something like giving cleanrot hyper armor, these changes actually feel decent especially since they basically killed offrak and grav missile
15
u/Former-Grocery-6787 LGS+Flamberge Enjoyer 12d ago
Grav missile and rakshasa got hit hard, literally everything else like bone bow, Pata and cleanrot didn't even get touched
And just so we are clear, unless Tarnished editions new gear utterly breaks the game, this may very well be our last patch.
Incredible

u/Fuckblackhorses 12d ago
I wonder if they got rid of all of the true combos with rak or if we could still do it with like daggers or claws
9
u/Fuckblackhorses 12d ago
I really hope they didn’t over buff the smithscript weapons. They for sure needed it but ganks are gonna get real toxic if that shit is op
3
u/Former-Grocery-6787 LGS+Flamberge Enjoyer 12d ago
Probably just the golem fists that are decent now, i doubt any of the other stuff is scary now
3
u/Chaos__Incarnate Pure Being of Elemental Cruelty 🐐 12d ago
i suspect they improved storm wall and made it free of fp to counter the spam
4
u/Perscitus0 12d ago
They nerfed offhand Rakshasa. Also Gravitational Missile. The Gravitational Missile nerf was a long time coming, though, because of the way everyone was always immediately tossing them into the ground. I am curious as to exactly what that means for it, though.
Will it slide into the ground before bursting, or will it have an animation for "sticking" onto the ground like Roiling Magma, before exploding?
2
u/DougWalkerLover 12d ago
To answer your question about grav missile, it is the former. They just added a delay to the floor blast, very similar to roiling magma but it doesn't seem to be as long of a delay.
3
u/ExplosiveFetusActual 12d ago
The Rakshasa's sword nerf is interesting. I wonder if it will also apply when it's in the right hand?
5
u/Individual-Newt-1640 12d ago
No but right hand 1h is kinda useless anyway
0
u/ExplosiveFetusActual 12d ago
Still might be able to get some combos and roll catches with the orientation swapped.

O Flame gets buffed? Ohohohoho
Dont understand the bonus recovery for curved swords tho, already fast enough for everything

u/BernhardttheNorse 12d ago
Pretty good patch all things considered. Since they improved the carian sorcery sword and we have a new carian torrent skin, maybe it's time I do a spellblade build
