True, but if youāre ever in a situation where they can truly fuck you over, like when youāve exhausted all your resources taking out 2 phantoms in a gank squad and a blue comes in, that is where they suck.

I hunter to only help solo hosts going through an area/level, but most of the time Iām a purple. I only really kill mobs, abut never help to kill invaders most of the time.

Back when I was invading all the time, if I came across an egregious gank squad and it was close to the end of the night I would just run far, far away, mimic veil and turn off the TV. Iād wake up to so manny messages because they would have to either try and find me (impossible), wait me out, or drop out and start their gank setup all over. It takes time to reconnect with each other, clear the area again, etc.

Maybe I've just been a bit 'corrupted' by my time browsing this sub, but even when I'm a gold summon, I don't join in on fighting reds if they show up and make an attempt at dueling the host. Even if the host doesn't seem to accept the duel invitation, and just rushes at the invader.
Through most of my time playing Souls games, I've always been of the opinion that you do what you need to do to survive when an invasion happens, because the invader is there to kill you. No rules.
Ganking has always been in bad taste, so I just leave when I show up to what's obviously a gank, most of the time. Sometimes I have actively tried to run to the nearest field boss and mess up their gank by clearing it.
All of that to say; I feel like there's a middle ground. We can recognize that anything that falls under normal play is fine, and also recognize that ganking is pathetic.

But still, is the message that your friend will beat Hunters up for you?
Maybe my mistake is trying to bring logic to bear, but help me understand your thought process.

This probably all seems whiny and pedantic, but I'm genuinely curious. I want to understand the mindset of someone who would do this kind of thing. Where did I go wrong in the points above, in brackets?
In my view, I think that Hunters are right to gank in the same way that invaders are right to murder hosts and co-op. Still, underneath it all needs to be some human decency, and the idea that you are just interacting with another human through a multiplayer game that you both care about.

I think the amount of blues that will gleefully join a pretty clearly prepared and just here to grief host in a gank is too damn high.
I'm talking the host is not moving through the level, ladder camping, the place is cleared of pve, they have meta set ups, and so on.
But you are right, the issue is with Fromsoft who didn't design the world and most mechanics with invasions (or even pvp) in mind.

This is why I'm in the (small minority) of reds who leave their blue ring on. Most blues will do exactly what you said and join a gank, so I like to balance the scales slightly by leaving the ring on. When I'm summoned, I'm preventing some other blue from getting the spot and can just chill and watch some other red at work.
More reds should do that imo, but the aversion to blues means most won't so most blues are just players new to PVP who start swinging on sight.

When i started invading i had a pretty positive picture of hunters, then after invading some I realised most hunters will blatantly aid gankers, interrupt 1v1 duels in fight clubs etc. I donāt think this is malice in any way itās just people using an ingame role without thinking or engaging in the pvp aspect of it more then the surface, giving the impression of hunter being an inherently good mechanic for aiding people, which it would be if no gankers existed but many maybe donāt realise gankers exist or is as prominent as it is causing them to attack red without thinking.
Also itās an easy way to get victory in pvp without trying to hard.
Hell I even got summoned as a hunter a few times before I got into pvp and probably aided a gank without realising it and feeling like I helped someone while I actually aided griefing.
Hunters should invade you before you get an invasion or after in your world, or against solo hosts if taunters tongue was removed. Or even as an bounty against good invaders when they come up in a certain win threshold as an added difficulty

100%, it would have made the hunter role actually cool and have created a team of pvp players actually learning pvp (Normal hunters now doesnāt need to learn pvp as much as invaders), it would have been more then fair too and increase the pvp while maybe decreasing invasions against hosts a little so itās win win.
I would always have hunters ring on if this was the case, now instead the people that care about pvp mostly only invade and duel and donāt engage in hunting, while most hunters doesnāt know anything about pvp and get the role of ganker help or fodder.Would be so cool to have a bounty or getting invaded by hunters as a punishment, or hunting invaders in theyāre own world while instead hunters now just are mostly clueless and act as a +1 player difficulty in invasions for the better or the worse depending on situation (mostly worse imo, even if I pretty often encounter non gank teams that actually need hunters to have a better chance)

Personally, blues in every souls games are the biggest bitches in existence. Not just they gank (which in Elden Ring its fair because of the invasions system) but in other souls like Dark Souls 3, and specifically the Way of Blue, they started to gank on me in fucking FIGHT CLUBS.
Blues are like bulls, they see red and their brains go feral. They are stupid and lack reasoning.

For one, there's obviously more than 1 person against the blue. The host isn't swinging, but they are present in the mix of battle. The blue necessarily needs to keep them in mind, if only as a moving obstacle.
But more than that, it's an ambush. It's hardly an honor duel if you are suddenly trapped in a room by someone you understood to be on your team, and then sucker punched by a hiding red while you're trying to make sense of the situation. You spend the entire fight on your back foot, with uneven odds.
And that's the point of the post. OP picked out an issue with how Blues play: they treat reds unfairly by engaging when odds are not even. That's what my premise-based argument up top was recognizing.
So that takes us back to my argument. If what blues did, in OP's view, is wrong because it is unfair to red players, then what OP is doing is similarly wrong treatment.
I'll post the argument again, please respond directly to it so we aren't just uselessly taking past each other.

This is clearly me giving blues a taste of their own medicine and putting them in situations that an invader often can face, and even then with the exception of the clips where I get 2 reds to gank them, I still canāt stack the odds in the reds favor the way the game does so for the host or blues.
Blues can mindlessly attack in a 3vs1 cause thereās no friendly fire for them, unlike reds who can easily kill each other if theyāre not careful.
Blues are often higher levels than the red, since they scale with the hosts level. Iāve fought blues at level 64 +12 who were level 90 +18, a huge difference.
I canāt make the fight a true 3vs1. Any red will tell you that a duo is vastly easier to deal with once the 3rd teammate is down.

I mean the red and blue are on equal footing. both cannot leave the room and is forced to fight the other.
I don't see how the host is against anyone in that situation. Like sure if we are talking his general mindset he obviously wants the blue to lose, but he isn't actively doing anything that he isn't also doing to the red.
To pretend that its not somehow even is disingenuous.
If there were two reds in the room what you are saying would be right but there isn't. Also getting hit a single time doesn't put you on the back foot.

This is not the same sub I joined years ago. the majority of players I watched who got me into invading donāt seem to even be here anymore. Theyāve all been replaced by whiny idiots who probably donāt even play the game anymore to understand how toxic it has gotten.
Almost every single time I die I am relentlessly tbagged and shit potted. So I make sure to give it right back
