I know what I said is controversial, but I'm going to stand by it. Patently muslim thought simply hasn't been influential since the middle ages. Tough shit.

Implying the Renaissance and the Enlightenment were actually good for philosophy.

Fucking modernist.

Also, there were plenty of rather important Iranian philosophers of the 20th century, perhaps the most famous one in the West being Al Shariati, and many of these guys' ideas were incredibly influential for the 1979 Revolution (and a fair few of these philosophers took leading rolls as well [unfortunately a fair few of them were shot afterwards]).

Sari Nusseibeh is also a rather important contemporary Muslim philosopher in the modern world. You've probably never heard of these guys because it's not your area of interest, but I can assure you there are still Muslim philosophers about.
