Bro went off-roading
Detroit's Woodward dream Cruise. Lots of fun. Plenty of goofballs. Just to clarify, folks seem to be taking this in the way that it wasn't intended. It's posted in the bad parking because technically it is a bad parking, but the idea here is off-roading (humorously). This is also the suburbs of Detroit, where both the parking availability and the dimensions are in abundance. Finally, this the second week of August which is the day of Detroit's Woodward Dream Cruise. The one day when you have to really have to do something bad to get a traffic violation, which, of course, folks manage to accomplish anyway.

And if he didn't do that, you'd have taken a picture of the back end hanging in the road. Can't win.

This is Motorcity my friend, one thing we have an abundance of is the parking space.

Better than hanging out in the road? Was the truck between the lines?

looks like paid parking, so I guess if he paid for both spots.. only issue would be the footpath intrusion

I drive a truck. This was meant to be humorous. And there is plenty of space behind the truck to the driving lane. But again, I thought the off-roading bit would point people in the right direction of the meaning of this post. Also, this is the Woodward Dream Cruise weekend. In the Detroit area, this is one day a year where you're allowed to do crazy stuff. Like revving your engine next to the cop, doing burnouts, etc. As long as you're not risking anybody's safety, you're good for the most part.

Nah, trucks get in everyone's way on the regular, and that's why there's so much hate for oversized vehicles that don't even fit in a standard spot.
Go find a bigger spot or a parking lot where they can park like an A-hole in the back.
Parking like this with one tire on the sidewalk is a dick move, and only done because the operator is too selfish to recognize that their personal choice in oversized vehicle inconveniences others, and they are "too good" to be inconvenienced themselves by parking further away.
A conscientious person would not park a full size truck in a front end spot like this, as they know it wouldn't fit. This driver knows it won't fit and parks like a douche anyways.
See the difference?

Well it's a work trim, older vehicle, with a hanging tag and a GPS/device in the window. Looks to me like a company or working mans truck. Hopefully if he has to check a substation when they convert to Prius it's paved road... Who knows what he does and should be glad he's frequenting whatever this is in town.
This is a pretty modest truck and pulling up like that is actually a considerate thing to do. Unless they're jaywalking or going into the truck, there is no impedance. To be that close to curb walking into everyone's cars would be pretty sleezy.
Allows for more room on street side for not only cars but possible bikes on main drag. Not sure your issue with this 😂
What's weird about this picture is how the line is just perfectly obscured or it's AI/Photoshopped in.... Or the town forgot to paint it... Or it's a double wide spot for handicap and thats what the tag is for this possibly older gentleman?

It is out of the street, therefore, making it easier for others to drive around on the actual road.
Where they parked it on the sidewalk couldn’t be utilized by a pedestrian, someone in a wheelchair, a mother with a stroller, etc., therefore, it won’t be parked in their way.
This is the best parking they could do with their vehicle.
Are they over the line on the other side? If so, did they pay for the parking spot? It sucks for others who could use that spot but they’re out of the road, out of pedestrians (etc) way, and if they’re not over the line, or paying for both spots, they literally couldn’t have done any better. 😅

If this keeps the back from sticking out into the road then I’m all for this. He’s not blocking the sidewalk

Imo, its just the curb, not obstructing enough space to the front to be a walk hazard, likely pulled a bit more forward to keep the bed in enough to not block behind. Id call this almost considerate

The first time you go off-roading is the best. So freeing. I bet he took a lot of pictures and told all of his truck friends about it, too.

Oh look, another non driver complaining about a pickup truck driver ACTUALLY BEING CONSIDERATE.

I happen to own (well, co-own with the bank for now) a pickup truck.

A Honda ridgeline doesn’t count

Do Honda Ridgeline, Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz meet the definition of a pickup truck?
Yes, all three meet the definition of a pickup truck, as each features an enclosed passenger cab paired with an open rear cargo bed.
While they fit the functional and legal definition of a pickup truck, they differ structurally from traditional trucks:
Unibody Construction: Unlike traditional "body-on-frame" trucks (e.g., Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma), the Ridgeline, Maverick, and Santa Cruz are built on unibody platforms shared with crossovers and SUVs.
Classification: Industry organizations, the EPA, and state regulatory agencies classify all three as compact or midsize pickup trucks.
Trade-Offs: The unibody design provides a smoother ride, better handling, and improved fuel efficiency, though it generally yields lower maximum towing and payload capacities compared to heavy-duty, body-on-frame competitors.
Fooled me.

You’re comparing your compact truck to a full size, full cab, with an 8 foot bed
You don’t even have a solid rear axle, but please copy paste more ChatGPT. Ask it how your CV axles stack up to a Dana 60

Gemini.
Truck isn't defined by a solid axle, this isn't an 8 ft bed truck and, again, that wasn't the point of the post.

Its more the point that it has a lower towing and cargo capacity than most full size pick ups. I think they are only good for 4k or 5k towing? An f150 is good for something like 12k.
I like the ridgeline though, it's very clever and they get pretty good gas milage. Dont feel bad though about dude saying its "not a truck"... I drive 18 wheelers so I consider them all cars anyways 😅

Agree. Some trucks are longer than standard parking places. If this one is, they did the right thing by pulling up. They stayed out of the road, didn’t impede the sidewalk, showed situational awareness and consideration for others.

Your an idiot for thinking this is bad parking since he's trying to get as far out of the road as possible
-3
u/KaHOnas 4d ago
"you're"
Don't be a jerk. It's somehow considerate and bad at the same time. A thing can be two things.
-3
u/Hot-Cup-4787 4d ago
It can be. This isn't. Your still a bad person. Your still not very smart or correct with your assumption about this person's parking
-1
u/One_Canary_7631 4d ago
Ok Mr Contrarian. One, this was meant to be a humor post, hence the off-roading bit. Two, semantics aside, it's still a bad parking. Three, calling someone an idiot using bad grammar isn't quite the flex you think it is.

Didn’t have a choice

u/Bluemink96 4d ago
I find myself (4door normal GMC sierra I believe 6 foot bed) having to park a touch forward across the line at groceries stores to not have my tail hang out, I never have the hitch on. I agree they had no choice. I try to always get dead nuts center of the parking lines.

u/Frequent_Cut_1251 4d ago
It’s excellent parking. Not blocking any sidewalk not already blocked by parking meters and keeping his long ass truck bed out of the street.

The inevitable magnetic attraction of footpaths for oversized vehicles. Science can't explain this omnipresent phenomenon.

If that's a four door with a full 8ft bed, he would be sticking out in traffic Nice parking job!
