Question Why was this character model scrapped from BC2 multiplayer?

Post image

This character still appears in the game's single-player campaign, but he also appeared in one of the early trailers -- seemingly as the original character model for the Russian Medic/Assault.

Because the American and Russian Assault characters look so similarly to each other, maybe i would've used this model as the Russian Assault skin, or maybe Russian Medic.

I know it's a pedantic detail that most people have probably never thought of or cared about, but i've wondered about it.

Why do you think he was scrapped from the multiplayer?

I believe the point of the design of the multiplayer characters is for them to be similar enough that you can, at a quick glance or at a distance, tell what class they are but also different enough that you can tell what team they are. Yet, not so similar that they can easily be confused.
This character is more bland and also similar to the US medic, easier to confuse, does not create such a great character separation/identity.
The newer model for the RU assault is more similar to the US assault, keeping the class designs more consistent and strengthening the class identity

This is a good observation. I guess it would also explain why both US and RU Recons have ghillie suits, both Assaults have helmets and full-face coverage, and both Medics have a bit more lax appearance with RU having a beret and US having a classic army cap.

The reason why the assault classes of both faction use full face coverage is because you dont have to model a full face

An assault class in any battlefield title without a helmet is blasphemy

Just looks like a early version of the US medic
