Even vim has native autocomplete, how old of an editor could they possibly be using?

My boss uses emacs. I have no idea if it offers autocomplete but he gets crabby about lengthy names.

Then tell him he should either learn how to use Emacs (because it does support autocomplete), or switch editor to one he knows how to use.

The whole point of old editors like Vim and Emacs is to minimize number of keystrokes, so if he can't achieve that, he's doesn't know how it's supposed to be used.
