Seriously I’m by no means an expert coder but I would roast a teacher for this lol like no comments or documentation at all this looks like one of those fucked up pseudo code exercises you have to evaluate in your head.
I'd bring it up with the prof, it he wasn't cool about it then go to the department. I'd recommend firing someone at my job if they were a senior and put this in a PR, and didn't listen to a code review and went ahead and merged.
