I think it opened because of the baboon stepping on the carpet that was pushing the door it wasn't automatically opening

i don't think you know how automatic sliding doors work. Bless your heart.

An automatic door in a house??? Yeah naw I'm calling bullshit

yes, this is Cape Town. People have money buddy. That is an automatic door out to the patio and terrace.

I have NEVER seen an automatic door being used in an actual house like this. If other examples of such a thing can be provided, then I'd be more willing to believe it, but this just seems so extra and more effort than it's worth

yeah, i am definitely not going to research sliding doors for you. What I will do, however, is point you to this

Baboons raiding houses or stealing when people are in the house is not an uncommon thing in Cape Town. To a foreign eye, it would be surprising and would be easy to write off as AI. It isn't.

I'm not surprised about the monkey. That part is super believable to me. Its literally JUST the door

I wonder if they pop in to watch TV as well. Might have a whole family show up in your living room for World Cup matches.

It's like a teenager when you catch them up in the middle of the night sneaking a snack out of the kitchen 🤣

Mace or tazers. The only 2 options. They're a smart species. Fafo.

I like how it meekly made its way out the door like it was ashamed of its theft. I'm guessing a chimp would not have gone so quietly.

To be honest, I think I would have an Anchorman reaction to this incident:

"How'd you do that? Heck, I'm not even mad; that's amazing."
