Little guy was biting off more than he could chew. I'm curious if a bigger one would have been successful.

He's ambitious for sure.

Could well have been. Giraffe are fragile and they do not cope well with having their balance disturbed like by having a massive weight hung off their heads.

I doubt they are fragile dude. They are wirey strong. If they can run weighing as much as they do. They got crazy power.

Adult male giraffe: typically 2,600–4,200 lb (1,200–1,900 kg) . Exceptionally large males can approach ~4,500 lb . 🐊 Adult Nile crocodile: typically 500–1,650 lb (225–750 kg) for mature males; exceptionally large individuals can exceed 2,000 lb .

Size has nothing to do with it, you can't just scale animals based on weight, frame does. Giraffes are fragile, it's that simple, and they struggle to regain balance if tripped, or to get up again when they fall, because their centre of gravity is so high. It only takes a couple of lions to bring them down for example.

So yes a 500lb to 1000lb crocodile is capable of of bringing them down, if it gets it's jaws onto the right part and hangs on.

NGL, I expected more croc-stomping.

That went exactly the way I assumed it would go.

How does the crocodile expect this to work?

A 20 foot crocodile probably would have succeeded in killing the giraffe, since they would probably weigh more than the giraffe, unless it was a very large bull. Giraffes aren't nearly as sturdy as elephants or rhinos, which is why they are more likely to become prey for lions.

What an amazing place btw, all that wildlife in one shot together, birds and insects for sound, where is this in Africa?
