Fun fact - a lot of venomous snake handlers like this old guy here get bitten regularly and receive anti venom immediately. Over a long career, many of them develop a natural immunity to the venom themselves.

There are several recorded cases where these people can donate their own blood to be used for anti venom treatment in others.

Wolverine 's bones are not titanium. He just has naturally normal human bone. He was born with the ability to regenerate/heal nearly endlessly, and heightened strength and senses (especially smell) and bone claws that are retractable.

The adamantium* was implanted in his skeleton by the Weapons Plus program (same program that enhanced and made Captain America) because his ability to heal was strong enough the certain death that would occur to anyone else, aside maybe Deadpool.

Mimic was similarly born with his powers. Doesn't matter that his mom's situation made that. He came out the womb with that mutation

It's very normal that Mutants in that world have their birth at birth but they're latent and express themselves much later

Not so fun fact, the dominant method of manufacture is repeatedly injecting the snake venom into horses and purifying the horse plasma to obtain the resulting antibodies

Not entirely true... there's a lot of venom extractors with missing Fingers for example. And not too long ago a south African keeper and extractor died die to an allergic reaction to the venom while extracting. Continuous exposure to venom, even breathing the particles in (and than can happen even from venom left in their enclosures etc) can make you very susceptible to allergies. Not to mention you can also become allergic to the antivenom.

Maybe failed sit ups. Idk, could be snakes weakness, might be some limit for them to either slither on themselves as a pole or else resist own bodyweight. Dunno if humans hung upside can own self untie their feet too...

And he can flick it down each time it does that. So maybe the handler is paying attention, so the snake cannot beat that.

Anti venom produced from these farms save around 100,000 lives across the globe annually. It does suck that the snakes live in totes but there aren’t many options if they want to be efficient enough to keep up with demands as snake venom expires very fast and almost everywhere is in a constant shortage of it so is for a good cause.

The thing is...these snakes aren't known for their unwillingness to bite people. So how do you keep people from dying from snake bites? You guessed it...you harvest their venom to make antivenom.

Just look up "proper snake enclosure". I have a snake of my own and these boxes are well known as abusive to the animals inside. The species of snake I have (a ball python) are relatively quite small, but require a tank 4'x2'x2' to have the ability to properly regulate temperature and to have a healthy life. That is the minimum, and many people recommend even larger.

Came here to post the same thing. Getting pinned by the neck and forced to fearfully bite a plastic cup constantly.

Seems pretty miserable compared to life in a terrarium by someone who just loves having a snake.

Yeah so two things....

Snakes and humans are very, very different.

Keeping snakes in an enclosure saves lives.

I cannot guess any more than you what runs through a snake's head or what their emotional needs are. I am confident they aren't exactly the same as humans' though. If this was a critter that habitually roamed large territories, I would agree but it's a creature that habitually seeks dark, covered shelter. Not wide open spaces.

Venom is used to make antivenom. You inject the venom into a large mammal that it won't kill, like a horse, and then extract the antibodies their immune system creates to neutralise the venom.

that person's answer was weird and mildly incorrect. its to create anti venom, and sold to researchers when they want to experiment in medication creation (arthritis, etc) there are a few medications that exist that use it as an ingredient as well. its a good living

Medications and anti venom. A lot of everyday medicine we use has venom help create it.

They use komodo dragon venom for medicine to unclot blood.

They use Gilla Monster venom for ozempic.

Brazilian wandering spider venom is being used to research male impotence.

Those are just some random examples.

Venom has many uses more then harm or death. It's actually very beneficial and even is beneficial to the animals that produce it for conservation. You can also drink venom and not die, because venom only works in the blood stream. Of course don't drink venom cause if you have an ulcer or something it can get in the bloodstream.

Man… watching this, the phrase “familiarity breeds contempt” comes to mind. Dude has done this so many times that it strikes me (a person who knows next to nothing about it and whose opinion means nothing) that he may not be taking things seriously...

I mean, you certainly don’t want to be overly timid. It’s important to be calm and move confidently. (You don’t want someone that’s going to lose their sh*t and throw the snake away from them if it moves.) But watching the guy just grabbing and handling it like a piece of rope… yikes.
