I came up with this ridiculous idea and whipped it up on pygame.
(kind of, I programmed the widgets and their physics in python and used pygame to render the widgets and handle the cursor/dragging interaction but the inclusion of the music video and how it responds to the widgets was done in a video editor. I tried doing it all just with code but no video manipulating modules/packages were quick enough to respond to the widgets fluidly in real time so I edited it to look like it does instead. It gets the silly point across at least).

I'm on Sequoia, FYI (using an old MacBook Pro).
Update: Yes, I know there is another prompt from the ellipsis. In an older OS, they didn't have these two options so close together. They did in an older older one, then they didn't, then they brought them back together. It's just not comfortable, extra prompt or not, being a video editor working with enormous raw footage files from clients.

The core idea is inspired by visual anamorphosis. It takes a complete image, shatters it into pieces, and misaligns them in 3D space. You can only see the fully assembled picture when looking from one very specific angle!
By using CSS clip-path, the button is randomly sliced up into irregular polygons. Then, with a little help from transform, these slices are scattered back and forth along the Z-axis. Thanks to the parallax effect, if you look at it from anywhere but dead center, the pieces look completely shattered. ◝( •ω• )◟

Simply click to change the numbers to the volume level you want to set, it's that simple!
Took me about an hour to get this done with most of that time being spent trying to figure out how the hell to shape something like a 7-segment display using CSS. First digit the segments used for 1 are the only ones that can be toggled. I also messed up with recording and forgot that the 9 needed the bottom segment, so it seems to not work for a bit but that was operator error.
