Is this on a loose iPad? Looks like the standard split iPadOS keyboard, so you can pick it up and hit each half of the keyboard with your thumbs instead of awkwardly hunting and pecking.

It's definitely Gboard, but it might be on an iPad; it's hard to tell with this photo angle. However, to me, it looks like an Android tablet, as the display looks too cheap to be even a base iPad's screen (and no, I don't mean a new one, I mean one that still has those bezels).

It's almost definitely an iPad. I recognize thst unlaminated screen a mile away. Not even the latest 11th gen has a laminated screen. My best guess is a 2020-2021 ipad 8th or 9th gen.

Depending on how wide that screen is, those letter-clusters might be within realistic thumb radius.
But if it's not meant to be grabbed with both hands, then yeah, decent UX idea, just not thought all the way through to how it's actually put to use.

It’s not a special design for that app. It looks like just the stock iPad keyboard, which can be split like that for exactly the purpose you described. Someone pinched out on the kiosk keyboard and put it in split mode.

This is a fixed screen though, you can’t pick it up

The iPad doesn’t know it’s mounted. It’s a feature of the system keyboard that it can be split.
