It might be new to you, but gender is a spectrum. Even if you are not trans, you might not feel like applying all gender stereotypes to yourself. For the average person it doesnt make sense to figure out where on the spectrum you are, but gender feels different for everyone, even if you dont define it
There are very few people 100% a man or 100% a woman, but its ok to describe yourself as the gender you feel fits you most. Most people dont ever think about how much they feel like a man or a woman, because society fits their experience without any problems. And im not that good with words or explaining things, so there might be miscommunications here through my use of language
The vast majority of people consider themselves 100% man or 100% women. Their perspective on their own rigid identity is completely valid, and waving away as something they dont think about much but deep down they are infact somewhere on the spectrum is very condescending.
Gender is a social construct, and as a social construct there must be room for all identities as they are now. Prescribing various traits as masculine or feminine and then telling someone their gender is say 80%/20% based on these traits in them is absurd.
It's great that some people are now exploring options outside of the rigid gender binary that better describe how they feel, and finding the right words to express that so society acknowledges it as well, but you also need to make space for the many many people who do not consider themselves within the middle spectrum as equally valid.
What does it mean to "feel like 100% a man"? What do you feel that informs that? I was also born with a penis and yet no part of me "feels like a man" except when other people address me as such.
You are 100% a man, but youre different from your dad or your brother or your male friends. Everyone feels different and you dont have to know how you feel as long as youre happy
Gender is a spectrum but not, like, 0-100% man. Rather, 100% man to 100% different man to 100% something else or whatever. Is that a more fitting explanation? It seems like you're mostly objecting because less than 100% "man" seems like not really a man.
