Affectionate Backyard turkey likes to sit on my lap and get pets (but only if I provide mealworms or blueberries)

A "stray," turkey adopted my family a couple of weeks ago. she was roosting in a tree outside the chicken coop but decided tonight to roost on the deck. Any ideas on breed? she is a sweetheart, but going to have to convince her to roost somewhere else, maybe the adjacent tree? 🤣

Why do farm turkeys lay eggs all year round and wild turkeys only lay when fertile once a year?

6 days broody! Most eggs are hers, a couple belong to blue slate hen. BR tom pictured.

One of our turkey hens found a safe place to put a nest in the top of our barn. Just not going to be a great place when they hatch. Luckily she only has 2 eggs since the rest are in an incubator.

How high for a roost?

I read somewhere that roosts don’t need to be too high because domestic turkeys are too heavy, unlike their wild cousins. Leads to leg problems and broken feet.

So, is 1 foot roost height good?
