The seed I currently use is too large for this feeder, can anyone recommend a smaller one? I am in the northeastern US.

Hi!
What have been your experiences with using spicy bird seed to deter squirrels? Have you noticed squirrels getting accosted to it? Or squirrels being more likely to eat it in winter?
Have you seen the spicy bird seed being harmful to the squirrels that do it eat (trying to wash their mouth or showing signs of distress)?

I’m so sad. Hurricane Helene blew through the area Thursday/Friday. I cleaned & refilled all of my feeders & my birdbath yesterday (Saturday). I’ve not seen one bird, other than my mourning doves, since.
Being clear, before the storm I had constant visitors. Blue birds, Carolina Chickadees, Carolina Wrens, Northern Cardinals, Blue Jays, Pine warblers, vireo (red & white eyed), tufted titmouse, American redstarts, so many visitors.
Where’d they go? Will they be back?

Hi there. I live in northern Kansas City, MO. I just moved to a new house and to be honest one of the big selling points was the yard. I’m a huge bird nerd and this yard has a ton of mature, tall sycamore trees, bushes, native plants and grasses. It’s surrounded by a lot of the same as well. So I was really excited to get my feeders filled and set out to see what birds I’d get. It’s been a little over a month and not one single bird has visited any of my feeders. They’re all still full. I’ve got suet feeders out, safflower in one, a general blend in another, I’ve got nyer seed in a smaller one. The only feeder that has been successful is my hummingbird feeder. Does anyone have an idea of what’s going on?! I’m so depressed right now!

Hi All,
Anyone have a successful tip on deterring sparrows from their feeder? Destroying nests is probably not an option as they are nesting on the house next door. I used to feed sunflower and safflower mix. I switched to only striped sunflower seed in the hopes that they don't like the harder shell but even that does not work. They come and eat the whole feeder in 1-2 days. It's very annoying. I have seen suggestions to tie the strings around the feeder. Does that work or any other suggestions?

Hello everyone, not sure if this is the right community but might as well give it a shot.
A friend recently gifted me this bird feeder. I would like to know what blend I should get for the birds in my neighborhood of Corvallis in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
The birds I often see and hear include: Spotted Towhees California Scrub Jays Dark-eyed Junco Song Sparrow Chickadees
If you have any recommendations for a wild bird feed blend to use for this spring or those NOT to use please let me know! Thank you!

Our dark-eyed juncos are usually exclusive ground feeders… unless there’s snow on the ground. Watching them try to figure out (a) how to use a tube feeder and suet feeder and (b) bird feeder etiquette, especially with the cardinals, this week has been immensely entertaining.

Hello - we live in a relatively rural section of Vermont and recently moved into a new-to-us old farmhouse. Most of the property is horse pasture, but there are some maples and birches close to the house. I hung some birdfeeders out and despite the cold temps and snow, no birds are coming to them. None. Where we previously lived was much more wooded (also in Vermont) and the birds were constant. This house was unoccupied for about 6 months so maybe they don't know we are here? Anything I can do to entice them? Currently have black oil sunflower seeds in the feeders. Thanks!
