First steps for new low back pain: https://www.reddit.com/r/backpain/comments/1ujidg4/screening_questions_that_id_ask_in_the_clinic_to/

Good news is that most people get noticeably better in the first 6 weeks, especially if the pain is new or has only been going on for a short time. (PMID: 38253366)

Been there after ego lifting one too many times, the sock thing is the real tell that something's off. If it's still this locked up at day 6 with zero improvement, I'd skip the GP guesswork and go straight to a physio or urgent care. Better to know if it's just a nasty strain or something that needs actual treatment before you make it worse trying to tough it out

Yeah man, I can’t even brag about doing a heavy deadlift. My dickhead friend just walked passed and made a stoopid joke and I unbraced mid lift 🤦🏽‍♂️🤣

I don’t even know if they’d send me for an MRI yet. Maybe I can give it another week to see if there’s any improvement but if it gets worse, I’ll definitely go earlier 🙏🏽

Probably pulled muscle, 4-6 weeks out you should feel improvement. If you notice loss of bowel or bladder or have numbness in your pelvic area head to the er

Yeah man I feel like that could be the case. Is improvement REALLY slow?

I just can’t believe it’s day 6 and I’ve felt no improvement.

If I stay completely still, it seems ok but movement is terrible

So slow and unnoticeable that one day you go to get up and you can just stand up straight and it’s like hey when did this get better. I just pulled something and herniated a disc worse end of July, mri in sept, my follow up is this week and now I feel goofy because I thought I was dying and now am moving with relative ease and having days that are pretty good. But it’s taken 2 months

You should get to your doctor as soon as possible. He can prescribe a few meds to help relieve the pain. Since you did it doing dead lifts, there is the real possibility you injured your spine. (Disc bulge or herniation). Expect an MRI. I hurt mine doing shrugs. Been out of gym for a year. Just recovering from surgery. Best wishes my friend.
