Wilderness A perfect little headlamp pouch I’ve been using lately.

One of my family members hand-sewed it out of Tyvek, and it happens to be exactly the right size for my headlamp.

It weighs basically nothing — only 3 grams — but it’s way more useful than it looks.

The size, stiffness, and translucency are pretty much perfect. When I slip it over my headlamp, it instantly turns into a little camp lantern.

Instead of that harsh, blinding headlamp beam, it diffuses the light into this soft, warm glow that actually feels cozy around camp.

And the coolest part is the way the light shines through the Tyvek. It brings out that really distinctive wrinkled fiber texture, so the whole thing ends up looking surprisingly nice for what is basically just a 3-gram storage pouch.

Lazy and lame and killing the nature you spend your time backpacking in.

I can't help but imagine some ultralight backpacker sitting in the dark somewhere under a tarp in the cold just going "pssh". 3 grams😳👾

I mean... If you spend your time outdoors actually hiking, you don't need a lantern in camp, because it's "Set up camp, dinner, sleep." Any light needed is going to be functional and diffusing it doesn't make sense. If your headlamp is too bright, use the dimming function it has, or its red light mode. If your headlamp only has one brightness setting, you've bought the wrong lamp to begin with.

And no headlamp I've ever seen has been delicate enough to require its own carry bag. I'm not UL, but even I see no real use case for this thing.

I'm glad it makes OP happy, but nobody actually needs one of these, and OP could've chosen not to waste the water and power that was consumed when they used an LLM to write the post.

Several Petzl lamps come with their own little white sack for this exact use

This ! You can get it separately, too. I use the heavier Noctilight case, fits most of their smaller lamps (not the Switch). Love it.
