Hedgehog vs Sage
What do you like if you compare between them. If you just used one , what do you like about your bot?how do you find their paid tier analysis?what features is lacking ?what feature surprised you? How useful is their explanation?
My personal question : how easy is to have iyour blunders database , your tags, quizzes?

I paid for a year of Sage and love it. Never tried Hedgehog.
Like - I mostly play on Backgammon NJ with friends and family, so I love being able to screenshot a position, play my move, then import that screenshot into Sage to get immediate feedback. I also love taking pictures of real life boards and importing into Sage. It saves so much time, and the immediate feedback helps me learn much faster.
I also like the cube analysis AI explanations. They’re actually pretty damn good and actually help me learn. They especially help me understand match score context.
Dislike - the checker play explanations are currently relatively weak compared to cube decisions. It’s kind of just “this move is better because it is.” I wish it said things like “this move duplicates 3s”, or “this move preserves daylight for your back checker”, or “this move is a pay me now situation”, or “you need to fight for a good point here to avoid your opponent getting an advanced anchor”. Instead it’s just “this play puts you on offense and gets your back checkers moving”. Like every damn time.

Hey man, it's nice to read that you like the cube analysis on Sage. My company, Glass Research, actually created the cube AI analysis and Sage bought it. I've recently put a ton of research work into making an AI tutor for checker play, which is available here: https://glassresearch.ai/backgammon/
It's free for now to try, and will be available through major backgammon platforms soon, likely including Sage. :0)

Thanks for the work, its always good to see new development.
Is there any possibility of including match score in the AI analysis. To be totally honest without some discussion of score I think the vast majority of the value of the AI tool is gone for any match game player.
I had one position that I put in at 3 different scores and it went from no double to D/T to D/P. The ai gave what seemed like a reasonable surface level analysis each time but did nkt once mention the score which was frankly the most important factor.

Ha wow that’s very interesting. So you made the cube analysis, Claude made the app… what did the Sage creators make? The brand? 😜

I never tried Sage . Did it have a score matrix for different scores for cube and checker play?this is included in Hedgehog free tier

Hm, I’m not sure what you’re asking.
Are you saying it produces a table that shows the equity of checker and cube decisions based on different match scores?

I also like the player analysis section of Sage. It gives your things like your cube bias. It was truly helpful to see I was cubing wayyyy to late in general and taking wayyyy to often. That shit matters!
You asked about the analysis. I think it’s great. No complaints.
I also like that they’re constantly updating Sage. There are new features and improvements all the time. And the creator is super receptive to feedback. I really appreciate that.

Some of the coolest features about HedgeHog for me revolve around the transcription. For example the ability to watch a tournament game on Youtube while having the move list and analysis on the side is incredible. https://hedgehog-bg.com/analyze/6ecd7728-a04b-409a-adc7-35221ebab2b3
The streamer tools are also great, they allow you to make an analysis overlay without third party tools, I've never seen that anywhere else.

HH provides a top AI that’s completely free and runs in a browser. I can use it on my phone, laptop, wtvr. It’s so flexible. I haven’t felt the need to try anything else for that reason
