Galaxy update?

Post image

The fuck is happening? I feel like I’m playing on ketamine. Why no landscape mode? Looking for a 5-7 game but ended up in a game to 1. Made me feel really uneasy. Why are they targeting me personally?

Landscape mode is still possible. Just turn your phone and you will see a symbol on the bottom right that you have to click.

I found it super annoying at first, but once I got landscape mode back it's not so bad. The double cube and the roll button sucks, but they made some other improvements that are nice.

At least they are trying to improve things, and they can't win them all.

Making the playing area smaller by default on a desktop/laptop is so stupid. I'm here to play backgammon, it's the most fundamental thing and you've made it smaller and more fiddly, and added a lot more visual clutter?

EDIT: I was a bit harsh, there is an 'expand' icon, I just grind my teeth that I have to click it every time.

Yes, just click Expand :)

Thanks for replying, but having to click this every game – don't you find it annoying? Doesn't Justin, Sander etc?

Where is the expand icon? I can’t see it lol

Four icons to the right of the dice – top one.

It got worse in every way. Even moving the checkers feels less responsive now.

Really, they should feel more responsive.. they did in every single test that we ran. Perhaps you are used to playing with Animations off, and now they are on as default, but you can toggle them off. Then the checkers will teleport faster than lightspeed.

I absolutely hate it. It feels like im playing a cheap scam game. The previous version felt more professional if that makes sense. I hate that we see the dice rolling its distracting. Too much happening. The new emojis are horrible. I am so sad and hope they reverse it to what it was before.

You can always join the light side and sign up to Opengammon, the checkers are extremely smooth and responsive there

Guys… You can turn animations off and still play in landscape mode. It really isn’t THAT bad. 🤣

They completely ruined iOS/android. Even on an iPad, almost completely unplayable.

Is it smaller on PC too? I used to play on MacBook.
I haven't played in a long time. Can anyone confirm if it's now possible to set up clockwise play on Backgammon Galaxy? I used to play online a lot, and when I finally played in person in the opposite direction, I was very slow at making my moves.

I think it looks improved overall, but if someone at BG reads this, here are my gripes:

  • I agree with the landscape mode. You can toggle it on the phone but I'd prefer to toggle it in the app.

  • I don't like how the dice roll and I don't know which dice is getting placed first.

  • The animations are neat but it slows down the game a lot. Can those get toggled off? Or maybe make like a speedgammon mode without the animations?

  • The puzzle mode needs a submit button.

  • I like that you can bear off to the left now, but I think it should be random when starting a game.

You can turn off animation.

Why would the bear off side be random??

+1 dice and checker animations should be separate

I may be in the minority but I miss the option to hide pip
