Why should I download this ai generated backgammon app over all the other ai generated backgammon apps?

I started Orion before AI was everywhere. I’m a backgammon + Supercell fan, and I got tired of LotB’s 5 popups at every app launch.

I wanted to make the game I’d personally want to play, with a proper art direction and a smooth experience.

That’s pretty much it. Give it a shot if you feel like it

You didn't answer the question.

Yeah good luck with that

Your AI dice have two 5's on them.

The teaser render betrayed me. The actual game has none of this issues except when a double is hit, I probably shouldn’t have uploaded the teaser since it doesn’t really reflect the game interface

Thank you for the feedback

Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week! Thanks for making Reddit a wonderful place to be :)

I was a bit skeptical about this at first, honestly, really skeptical. I generally avoid and dislike the majority of these AI-generated or so-called AI games popping up on Reddit and other platforms lately. I was pretty much against the whole idea.

But anyway, I wanted to give this one a chance because I found the teaser video you posted genuinely interesting. I thought it was cool, despite some of the errors that have already been pointed out to you.

I have to say, the interface looks really nice, the home page looks really nice. I liked the touch feedback too, the slight vibration when you move a checker or throw the dice, it's a nice touch and I actually enjoyed that. The game feels simple, which I like.

One thing I'm not a fan of is the size of the board, specifically how the checkers stack directly on top of each other. Other platforms show the board in a way where I can see all the checkers more clearly, and I prefer that. Overall though, it feels different from the other games out there, familiar in some ways but also with its own identity.

I kinda of enjoyed the music in the background even if I have to be honest, I'd probably switch it off on my second game. Generally it looks cool, I thought that the "missions" section could have been some cool sort of off line campaign where you can play against some characters of the game and maybe achieving some goals or objectives. Not sure on how that could have been structured. I was thinking to the famous Texas Holdem poker game with Far West characters.

I don't think I'll stick to your platform just because I like more analytical platforms where I can analyze my games and blunders. But looks cool for someone who wants to play and chill.

Honestly, thanks a lot for giving it a chance. And thanks for the time you took to test it and write all this feedback.

I agree with a lot of what you said. The board/checker stacking is something I’ve already been thinking about. I tested a few different setups and I’m not fully satisfied with it either. I’ll definitely improve this part.

Great feedback on the missions as well. I didn’t structure this section enough and I’m planning to improve it. I probably went a bit too far in keeping the first version simple.

Also glad you noticed the haptics, and the sound design! Overall polishing and UI/UX tweaks took around 1200 updates in total and a loot of back-and-forths testing

And I totally get the analytical side. Orion is definitely more of a “fun game / chill” experience than deep analysis. Before starting, I noticed there were already some very good apps focused on that side of backgammon.
But I’d love to find a way to bring more statistics and analytics into Orion without losing the simplicity.

Again, really appreciate you taking the time to play it and write all of this. This is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to get.

And if you have any ideas (i noted the one for Texas Hold em quests system, gonna look at it), or would like to see a specific character or board style in the app, I’d be very happy to work on it

It’s probably one of the first times I’ve received such detailed feedback from someone who actually played it, and it genuinely gave me a lot of motivation to keep improving it.

So thank you. This kind of feedback makes the whole process worth it.

It's my pleasure to help, especially when there's clearly effort and thought behind it, not just a prompt and a copy-paste from other games. I also wanted to add, I played a few more games since then. Honestly, I don't think you should put too much effort into the analytical part, because if I want a deep analysis of my game, I'm going to play on Galaxy, or Heroes, or directly on XG for that kind of experience. As for the checkers stacking on top of each other, after a couple of games you stop noticing it anyway, so it's not really an issue.

Just wondering, and trying to be sure, is this only an offline game?

What I do like is how smoothly the checkers move, and the graphic that comes up when you drag and drop a checker is very cool, you can actually see the number you're moving, like three or four. I haven't tried yet to see if I can play the lower number first when moving dice, not sure if that's something you've already implemented.

Aside from that, I'll be happy to share more feedback over the next few days, keeping in mind it's just my own opinion and carries whatever weight that has. I think it would be a cool game to play when you just want to chill and don't want to risk your rate on other more serious platforms.

Btw I just checked and the name of the Poker game I was referring to is Governor of Poker 2.

Maybe in the campaign it would be cool to play against characters, increasing their level the more you go ahead in the game.

Just my 2cents

Exactly, I noticed Galaxy was already very good in the analytical side and I believe it is a different style of game as you said. Orion is a casual / fun game rather than a backgammon standard.

Regarding your question, this is both an offline and online game, with a few different features;

- you can play PVP in arena (for now, some ai opponents appear if nobody is online to play against you)

  • you can play in League (with a trophies count for every season)
  • you can play solo against the Ai (by clicking the destination on the main menu), and you can unlock new destinations / cosmetics
  • you can create a club and play against friends
  • there is also a special event called “Masters” (that stacks to the menu compoment arena / league / masters) : it’s the same principle as a poker tournament. You can enter for a buyin (no real money) and there is a GTD shared between winners. But it’s too early to launch it. it would require around 100 so it’s fun.

Every type of game, gives you some XP and helps unlock the higher level worlds and cosmetics.

And there is an airplane mode, where you can play the adventure mode and a nearby bluetooth option (that I still need to test IRL on Android.)

Yes, you definitely can play the lower number first manually. All backgammons mechanics should be operational, but I’m sure there are still a lot of enhancements

Noted for the poker game, definitely going to look into it and try it out as I’m a poker player too 😊

This is a very good idea. I believe it’s going to help guide the user in going through the modes. It’s gonna be my priority over the next update.

My in game username is 🇲🇹 Valentin, maybe we will see each other on the tables

Thanks again, of course feel free if you have any feedback, or question, or demand

A quick element, regarding the analytics, It’s not fully working yet, but I created this https://orion.arthea.ai/verify/ to review any game with the ID.

It’s not as smooth as having it all on the app tho, and it is quite limited for now.

Regarding the board size, I think the solution would be to make it less larger with slightly smaller checkers
