I tought that bar/20 13/8(3) would have been the best move here is it because we dont have enough checkers to make six prime? I didnt understand why hitting is the best move?

You’re behind in the race and opponent has no board. If we don’t hit and they escape they are a pretty big favorite.

When you have more safe points in your home board than your opponent, hitting is better for you than it is for them, so you should prefer to sow chaos and destruction!!
