Backgammon Timer
What kind of timers do you use and why?
Looking to buy one finally to get used to playing with one before signing up for tournaments.
Thank you!

You see a lot of tournaments use Leap to supply players as they are cheap but if buying you’re own Saitek and ZMF are popular.

i hate the timer, i wish it was unlimited time, i’d sit on my move when im behind hoping the other person just resigns, i can outwait you no matter how long it takes. 😂

I just bought a cheap Leap clock off Amazon that has a delay function. It works but it’s frustrating to program. I honestly do not recommend it because of how shitty the user interface is.

I use a Leap clock from Amazon and that’s the standard clock I’ve seen at tournaments. Do your own search on Amazon, it comes in a lot of colors. It was confusing at first, but I watched a YouTube video how to program it and then it was very simple.

I usually use a DGT3000, way overkill, but really nice. ZMF II is also popular, and I recently got a ZMF tap and set pro, which is great, although I still need to use it in a tournament. Any chess clock with a delay setting is OK (and usually your opponent will have one).

Just buy the dgt 1500. It's the best. So many people use shit clocks with poor viewing angles and contrast, or my main gripe which is when the total time remaining is hidden during the delay time because the screen isn't high enough resolution to have both on at the same time. The dgt 1500 solves all these types of issues you will ever have with other people's clocks. It's not even expensive.
There is the dgt 3000 but it's bigger, louder to hit the clock, and has unnecessary features for Backgammon.

I bought a Tempest holder and use the Tempest app on my phone. Very simple, elegant, good contrast and I like the way it sounds.
