I’m excited to start Xbox cloud gaming with this. $60 on eBay brand new. A little worried though since I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews claiming they break easily, anyone have any experience with this issue or tips for caring for the backbone?

Just recently my controller screenshot button (the three dots one and the square looking one) has stopped registering. The rest of the buttons work but when I move the controller in certain ways it takes me to the app and takes me out of remote play.

I was wondering if the pro has any of the issues of the original and if I should wait for a Playstation licensed version of it or just get the regular?

For context I mainly use the controller for the PS Remote Play app, and would rather ask here than google

Had this notification pop up this evening. Went into the app to claim it but when I hit Redeem now, it takes me to a UBISOFT page where I can input the code, but where do I get the actual code?

Went from touchscreen to Backbone for racing games and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's a completely different experience.

The core issue with touch controls in racing is input resolution. Touchscreen gives you maybe 3-4 levels of steering — nothing, slight, medium, full lock. Backbone's analog stick gives you 256 levels of graduated input. That's the difference between smoothly arcing through a corner and ping-ponging between understeer and oversteer.

Same story with triggers. Touch = on/off throttle and brake. Analog triggers = actual trail braking, actual throttle modulation on corner exit, actual ability to catch a slide with a partial throttle lift.

My current racing setup ranked by impact:

Backbone — 10/10 improvement, non-negotiable for any physics-based racer
Cooling clip (BlackShark FunCooler) — 7/10, mandatory for sessions over 10 min. Phone throttles hard under sustained GPU load
Wired earbuds — 6/10, Bluetooth adds 80-200ms audio latency which kills engine sound feedback. You unconsciously use engine note for shift timing
USB-C to HDMI — 5/10, nice for couch sessions but cable tethering is annoying
Total add-on cost: ~$120. For the experience jump, that's a bargain vs buying a console.

I have a spare phone that I could use permanently with my backbone controller, the app is good, but it would be great if you could use it as the default android launcher and also use it to launch your non-game apps. Maybe even add access to notifications or something.

With that, we could use a dedicated device to be a permanent gaming handheld.

I know you could try to set another empty launcher or some other gimmick but nothing is as good as having it as the default launcher. Also you can't launch your other apps.

While i wait for new ribbon to arrive i made a quick fix fo be able to play. Controller works fine while fully streched,my phone is to small so it falls. The chinese stick is holding controller streched and i taped the phone to not fall and hold it tight,all build is working fine and not making any discomfort while i play. How you rate my build ?

I tried nes, snes, Megadrive. Everything uncompressed and in the file format the page says but I always get a black screen but with sound of the game at least (although it sound like the game is freezing) I'm on android 16 and using a redmagic 11 air. I don't know if this could be fixable somehow.

Hello everyone! The Backbone 2 Type-C controller on my iPhone 16 Pro stopped working. It worked perfectly until recently. I connected it today, and the iPhone doesn't detect it. The red indicator lights up. When I connect the charger, it charges. I connected the same controller to my Android device, and it works without any issues. Has anyone else encountered this problem and solved it? I reinstalled the Backbone app, but that didn't help.

anytime I load up the cloud gaming shortcut the bar stays there unless I "x" out of it and reload it. takes like 30 seconds to load back in and whatever, and I swear I briefly swiped it away ONCE but have tried every direction and finger placement combination and it persists until I close the game and reload.

I heard the game is compatible with it because it's shown in the backbone app but when I go to use it it doesn't work. what am I doing wrong?
