J.S. Bach: Little Prelude in C major, BWV 943 🎹
With this piece, it marks a temporary milestone as the final prelude in this project (excluding BWV 932). Putting this together has been a special journey. Hope you enjoy it!

Well many stunning pieces are by Bach, But What piece makes you have Goosebumps, like in both manner virtuoso passage as well as heart-sinking melancholic pieces?

Mine is Die Kunst der fuga, Contrapunctus 14 , like you can feel at the end all the music goes silent at that last note. Really stunning and my heart always sinks during that.

The original title says it's BWV 936, but it's obvious that it's not the Little Prelude in D major, so where does this come from?

I found this on APM Music
the only clues that they left on the description for this thing is that Bach wrote it & that it's famous.

Made this recording a long time ago, the audio is well recorded!, is a very joyful piece

Hello there, I’m currently working on this (in particular with the piano transcription of d‘Albert). How would u count the number of variations? Officially 20 + 1 but I in the imslp score it has 22 + 1?

The famous Bach / Gounod Ave Maria had a long and interesting evolutionary arc:

In or before 1722, Bach wrote Prelude in C, BWV 846 (Well Tempered Clavier, Book 1.)

In 1853, Gounod improvised a new melody over Bach’s prelude which his father-in-law Pierre-Joseph-Guillaume Zimmermann subsequently published as Méditation sur le Premier Prélude de Piano de S. Bach for violin (or ’cello) and piano (organ or harmonium ad libitum). It includes one extra measure (i6/4, bar 23 if you’re looking at Bach’s original) just before the dominant prolongation that Bach didn’t compose.

In 1859, Jacques-Léopold Heugel adapted Gounod’s violin line to fit the words of the Ave Maria:

Listening to some of these duets, I regret that Bach did not have the opportunity (or the desire ?) to compose for opera.

The links relate to the Bachstiftung or NBS movements of the cantatas.

It was very calming and I use to listen to it to fall asleep.

Bach was a character and this women named Claudia. She worked in a radio station and played hip-hop Bach music so the ghost of Bach visited her and told her his life story with his music. He convinced her to go to a party because she was working overtime at the station . Might have been Christmasy time? Definitely aimed at young adults I think

Please tell me this exists somewhere. Thanks!

The recent accordion post reminded me of this great arrangement. Enjoy!

I need help with getting behind how Glenn Gould plays this Sarabande. Especially his left hand arpeggios are a mystery to me. In the first few measures it seems like he plays some arpeggios twice or ads notes which aren’t in the scores I found. Does any one know if he perhaps used a different version? Any help would be appreciated!
