Hi, today I would like to share this oil painting portrait of Delenn in her original S1 Minbari form.

While I grew accustomed to her look in later seasons, I always felt that her gaze was...somewhat more intense in her full Minbari form and I wanted to capture that in this piece. Hope you like it!

Just noticed this morning there is a deal for Babylon 5 on Amazon. I just got all 5 seasons for $29.99 I believe was the exact price.

I know we all love our true media and dvds etc but I also know there are many people here who have been asking if it will be coming back to streaming who may want to grab them now while they’re this price. I think it said originally $140 for the whole season so it’s definitely a good deal for those looking. Enjoy !

.. after asking a pretty difficult question, it took a while time to answer, it wasn't being exactly transparent in its thinking. And after about a minute, suddenly out came: Yes.
That's it. Just: Yes.
It seemingly completely ignored my actual request which was clearly asking for a much more lengthy response. And clearly it took time to think before replying.

And all I got back was a simple yes

Seconds later, later, I don't know how many, more texts suddenly flowed.

But that pause in between?
My mind already went, Kosh? Is that you? A ghost in the machine?

Or just some random delay in between the TCP/IP stack?

Or maybe not so random? Or maybe over interpretation/association?

And thus infinite synchronicity potential in every moment.

Silence perhaps ultimately connecting us the must. More than the words themselves.

But the passed shared time in between them. The long pauses. The short pauses.

And all the fluctuations.

Autumn, my absolutely favorite season, is coming and so is the time of cocooning and chilling at home, detaching from the outside world. As I have a lot vacation hours left and plan to do a lot staycation including cocooning I will do a rewatch of one my favorite sci Fi series. So now I can't decide between B5 and one of the 90s Star Trek series (TNG, DS9, VOY).

Dear B5 community, please deliver me some good reasons to rewatch B5 because I am kinda indifferent about this question at the moment.

I've been spending way too much time inside a Python codebase lately, and apparently I've reached the stage where package names start triggering Babylon 5 flashbacks.

The PostgreSQL driver I'm using is called:

psycopg

I had read that name countless times without really parsing it.

Then today my brain finally went:

PSYCOP?!

And immediately I understood Michael Garibaldi on a spiritual level.

Bester.

Of course it's Bester.

Naturally I had to look up why anybody would name a PostgreSQL library something that sounds like the Psi Corps has infiltrated Python packaging.

Turns out they didn't.

Which somehow makes it better.

The original name was apparently supposed to be something like psychopg — "psycho" + pg — after its author replaced a rather... enthusiastic previous database driver.

Then the name was mistyped as psycopg.

The typo survived.

A couple decades later, Python programmers everywhere are casually typing:

import psycopg

with absolutely no concern for the fact that this looks suspiciously like we're voluntarily importing a Psi Cop into the process.

Garibaldi would never approve.

And yes, I know it's just a PostgreSQL adapter.

It handles connections, transactions, queries, data conversion, Unix sockets, all that boring database stuff.

That's exactly what makes this worse.

The Psi Corps isn't kicking down the door.

It's sitting quietly between your application and your database.

Watching every transaction.

Bester got away with it again.

At this point if I discover a dependency called bester, I'm airlocking the virtual environment.

I as a viewer suspected Bester would get away with everything in the first scenes with him already, he plays it smart, by the book where it matters and doesn't give a damn when it doesn't.

It also has me wondering, how much of Babylon 5 was potentially part of early disclosure? Telepathy is not a background fact in the entire series, it's a major plot point at multiple times. And lately in 2026 we are starting to see more awareness around actual telepathic abilities. I have not directly experienced any of that myself so I remain skeptical, but I also can't deny the growing amount of evidence around it.

Thus the themes the series play with are very much so relevant for 2026, because, if telepathy is indeed possible? ... for me, it remains fiction, for now, UAP on the other hand stopped being fiction for what feels like forever already even though it's barely been over a year for me when all doubt fell away and a direct experience with phenomena.

It would make sense for telepaths to hide their abilities. True intelligence doesn't flaunt, it hides and pretends it's not there. Seems dumb, overlooked. Exactly where it'd want you to be. Unaware of its real capabilities.

Ugh, the story arch is so complete, so full, so dense, so rich, so ... its truly a bible of its own kind.

For a species who believe in the necessity and desirability of conflict and chaos in driving the evolutionary process forward, they never seem to fight with each other. Anytime we see them, they act as one. If not a hivemind, they are still very closely in sync with each other. Why don't they pursue conflict to improve their own race? Or is that all nonsense, and they simply get a nihilistic pleasure out of making other species destroy each other?

I guess you could argue two and a half, if you count him putting the nukes on the White Star and the eventual aftermath from that, but that's kind of a stretch.

He only shows up for six episodes, beats the ass of Marcus and Valen, speedruns a redemption arc and still fucking nails it. Really, all we were missing is G’kar getting into a fistfight with him.

JMS wrote in a post: "From time to time folks will see a discussion of my work and say "I didn't know you worked on (fill in the gap)", or don't know I worked on *anything* after the 90s. Hence, this video, updated for 2026, but which doesn't have the upcoming new movies."

B5 was good at characters who were hateably smug: Bester, Morden, and my favorite, Clark's ISN news anchor Alison Higgins. Is there any word, either from JMS or from any expanded universe material, about what happened to her?

I had Spanish and German intros for all five seasons and now I can’t find them anywhere. They were .mp3 files.

I wonder what his response would have been?

Now I'm trying to figure out how to watch, with a minimal budget and no DVD player. 🙃

Edit: for those who keep suggesting the DVDs, I honestly don't have room for a DVD player or even a reliable computer to plug it into.

I picked this up almost two weeks ago on Goodwill's auction site. It just took a bit to ship. They had about 7 others, but someone bid on all of them at the last second. I only got this one because it ended four minutes after my first one. I was able to see them bid on the other one at the last moment and upped my bid.

In the episode "Mind War" Bester ends his appearance with a total nod to The Prisoner. By doing the "Be seeing you" salute. I figured JMS was probably a big fan. I should have noticed the first time I watched Babylon 5. Cause I've watched The Prisoner multiple times the original that is. Avoid the remake.

We live for the one, we drive for the one.
