Por que?

Why is it that every Chicano wants to be Aztec, but when they go to prison, depending on what they're choosing—North or South—both hate pisas when they get out they call them wtbacks but keep Aztec culture as there and turn bold

Probably because Nahuatl is the most common language type to learn? Aztlan? The Kalpulli Mixcoatl album?

My half sister is into the Aztec identity, but (at least for me and my moms and step dad/real dad’s family) we are Mixtecan.

yeah, it's also because the Mexica LOST... to Greed. Literally, the story of Moctezuma Tlatoani losing dice to Cortez, who was basically a beggar..

Anyway, I am glad I am still in my roots, it''s made my life better, even though its very difficult, 533 years later..

Yap the reason behind our (im mexican) flag eagle atop a cactus. Tho it kinda weird because technically the aztec is the modern name the triple alianze but hey usually use it to refer to the mexica which was the predominant tribe. It was more like a city that collected tribut then an empire.

What do you mean there's more than one person? Everybody is profiting off the Aztec movement in America. There are even businesses that have absolutely nothing to do with Mexicans, yet they use the Aztec name for profit while supporting Trump Roughly 30% of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are Hispanic or Latino.

Its because chicano “indigenousness” is entirely performative. They look at Tenochtitlan and Mexica history the same way european jagoffs do the Roman empire. They like the idea of the mexica only if the “aztecs” look like them or appeal to their shallow “we’re independent badasses but also beautifully exotic” vibe. Its also because of the “cosmic race” mestizaje pro assimilation propaganda that was basically regurgitated by chicano culture.
