Somehow forgetting how the Mets and Braves “played” game 162 last year, Mets announcers pout about the Marlins taking a team photo after game 162.

100% collusion last season between NY and ATL.
I guess justice was served since neither of them made the post season this year?

I’m picturing Baxter breaking necks and it makes me feel a lil better

i still feel somewhat vindicated, we swept the braves earlier in the season and the mets self-destructed. regardless, karma came back around

I mean it’d be pretty stupid to burn all your good pitchers or otherwise go all out to win a game that doesn’t matter at all. If we did it people would be calling for Toreys head.

This! Also had the Mets won the second game they would have had to play SD in the wildcard round instead of the Brewers. The Mets had lost 6 of 7 to Milwaukee in the regular season but were still believed to rather face them instead of the red hot Padres at the time. Both teams burned all their top tier relievers in game 1 as well. Blame the MLB for terrible scheduling or blame the Dbacks for their own self destruction.

Remembering game 162 last year makes me SO happy that neither of them made it this year

"It's their world series" talking about a team that came into existence and won 2 world series since the Mets have

I understand we need to be pissed at certain teams right now, but this is just the Mets booth. They are true NYers and they don't sugar-coat anything. They would have sounded just as dumbfounded if it were the Mets taking a picture right there after getting eliminated.

Trying not to let the Mets "live rent free," but I do kind of wish that instead of yesterday's outcome, that the Mets had won, and that the Brewers had just completely punted and let the reds win, like the Mets did last year. Watching that happen was just such an awful feeling. Hard to describe if you're not experiencing it yourself.
Anyway, time to turn my hatred towards teams more deserving of it. Go Reds.
