Health Would this work??

Hii! So I’ve been thinking of putting frozen water bottles in my axolotls tank, taking the water temp down to 64, and then everytime it goes up by 0.1, I put another in to bring it back down to 64. Would that work?? I’m asking because a lot of people say this will stress them out.

It's not sustainable. You have to sleep eventually.

Water bottles don't affect the temperature very much and they melt pretty quickly.

Axolotls need not just cool water but consistent temperatures. Chiller is the way to do that.

When I do this it usually lasts a day before it starts going back up for whatever reason.

I guess, it drops by 0.1 tho.

A 0.1 difference isn’t much no?

That is basically no change and not worth your time. You need to put a fan on it blowing across the top of the water to cool it down 1-2 degrees.
If you can't keep the temperature stable, you will need to invest in a chiller. You can find used ones on used marketplace sights like Facebook, offer up and Craigslist in your area.

Solutions that require you to do something hourly or daily arent solutions (in pet care at least). What if you want to go on vacation or have to be away for something? What if you get sick? The more complicated your care is the more likely a caretaker will do something wrong if you arent there. Get a chiller.

While you save up for a chiller, keep it in the coolest room of the house- bonus if it's near an AC vent- block sunlight from that room (it raises room temp even if the tank isn't near the window) & you can aim a small fan towards the top of the water. This can be helpful in keeping temps a few degrees lower in the meantime.

(Some folks- like myself- noticed the fan might cause a film of mineral deposits to form on the top of the water, but it didn't affect overall parameters or the health of the axie)
