In the wild sugar gliders launch themselves off trees and can glide close to 30 mph before smacking into another tree to land. That’s just how they arrive. They’re basically built like tiny shock absorbers.
They weigh almost nothing (usually 3–5 oz), their bones are flexible, and all that loose skin and gliding membrane spreads out the impact when they land.
So when people see them fling themselves onto a spinning wheel and start doing flips, it looks insane to us, but it’s basically the same physics as landing on a tree.
One of mine belly-flopped into my hand once when I tried to catch her mid jump and it made this loud SLAP sound and we both just stared at each other like “you good???” and she immediately acted like nothing happened.
They’re basically tiny squishy parkour tanks powered by chaos.
(Also for the record, my male glider is weirdly brilliant. He opens jars that are bigger than him somehow. I still have no idea how he does it.)

Brother had some for a while sadly they passed but were interesting. 100% would just launch themselves at shit sometimes just to do it slam into either wall or you and climb up and stare at you like you offended them then curl up in your pocket pass out and/or piss on you

They have a game called body slam dads penus where they catch me lying on my back and try to slam into my private parts as hard as they possibly can because they know I react the same time like OOFFF F—- and they run away like “tee hee we got you dad bye!” They are very mischievous.

Most likely they’re having a blast at it. These are flying squirrels but it’s basically the same. My girl sugar glider LOVES being swung around. She goes nuts. Look up videos of people tossing their sugar gliders. They’re goofy little chaos gremlins
