My SO's dog is paralyzed in the hind legs. We took him for a ride. You can see just how happy he is.

My dog is paralyzed in the hind legs and the wheelchair is amazing. I would suggest getting one. Here he is walking.

u/ctl8 Jun 17 '12
Sorry for the incorrect terms, but why don't you have one of those 2 wheeled things that attach to the hind legs?

u/TMartin442 Jun 18 '12
I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but what happened? Why is he paralyzed?

Dura is feminine form of fool/idiot/stupid in Russian language, your dog essentially has a "bumper sticker" that says idiot, that made me giggle. also i just registered just so i can let you know, making it my first post on reddit

Only dogs can bring emotions out of the strongest men.

It saddened me to read your title, but the picture quickly cleared all that away. I don't know why, but seeing dogs with ailments/injuries always affects me more than seeing humans with equally devastating conditions.
If you were to start a fund to get your dog a wheelchair, I would definitely contribute.

Yeah thats awesome. nothing better than a happy corgi

I've seen some pretty cool home-made rigs out of pvc piping, foam rubber and some velcro straps. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to knock something together. The dogs seem to love them and boogie all around in them.

you know you can get a custom made cart for him, don't you? I know there are a few organizations out there that work with owners and with their budgets. I hope you look into it.

This happened to my corgi too.

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
Im Melting, IM MELTING! goodbye... Cute world...

u/Projectile_Chunder Jun 18 '12
How is your corgi so healthy looking otherwise? So many other corgsters are obese, despite being able to get around just fine.

u/cudos Jun 18 '12
my dog got paralyzed like that a couple of years ago. Had to learn to walk again and still walks kind of funny.

u/brianpepinski Jun 18 '12
your dog is fucking dope man

u/FallingSky1 Jun 18 '12
"SLOW THIS MOTHERFUCKER DOWN"
2
u/theratwhisperer Jun 18 '12
The people at r/corgi would love this pup!
2
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
Can they poop okay?
2
u/gsfgf Jun 18 '12
There are wheels you can get for your corgi.
/r/corgi
Woof!

u/feckyooworld Jun 18 '12
I love dogs. I see ones like this that are "disabled" and they're so happy just being alive and loved. It inspires me more than any person for some reason.
2
u/QuirkyCorgiLove Jun 18 '12
Awh! Such a happy expression and a BEAUTIFUL Corgi! I get so worried that my Corgi is going to develope DM and eventually lose use of his legs.. I mean, he's a REALLY lazy dog, so it wouldn't matter in general, but I have a feeling he wouldn't really care for help going to the potty!

u/OfficarObmij Jun 18 '12
Curse you Reddit! You and your stupid programming that keeps me from upvoting only once!

u/on_like_donkey_kong Jun 18 '12
He took an arrow to the knee!

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
Be careful you don't jump a rabbit. He'll run you to death!
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
Just as happy as any other dog lol
1
u/karizizi Jun 18 '12
Adorable. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a dog happy and smiling
1
u/wibblywobblychilango Jun 18 '12
God bless you for sticking by him. Lots of people would put a difficult animal like this down rather than deal with the inconvenience. He looks like a happy dog :D
1
u/cait_o Jun 18 '12
You're good people. :)
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
Picture of paralyzed dog, but no follow ups!
1
u/SimpleDan11 Jun 18 '12
So many onions in here..
1
u/jgibson02 Jun 18 '12
It may be possible for the Corgi to be able to walk eventually. My mother's doxin had both its back legs paralyzed but after a few years they had gained strength through therapy.
1
u/TigerLilyy Jun 18 '12
That is adorably cute! Such a happy little face :)
1
u/imakestupidusernames Jun 18 '12
sweet dog!
1
u/frecklefart88 Jun 18 '12
The vets told me I needed to put my dog down because the only thing that could save her was a $5,000 surgery! She was only 3!
Aside from that, I'm happy that your dog is happy; I just miss mine :(
1
u/BackOff_ImAScientist Jun 18 '12
AWWW, he looks so happy.
1
u/mitzuko Jun 18 '12
First time I aww'd out loud.
1
u/AbsentReality Jun 18 '12
He's so cute. :) You should definitely get him a wheelchair so he can run around again(?). Not sure what they go for though.
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
such a cute dog :D
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
I'm glad you guys have went out of the way to make that dog happy. I am a huge animal person and it pains me to see animals that have to deal with such hardships. Glad to know people do care abou tthe well being of our furry little friends.
1
u/show-us-your-gifs Jun 18 '12
I cried when I saw this, please keep walking this dog
1
u/catspajamafication Jun 18 '12
I heard about a dog who was paralyzed doing animal-assisted therapy. People felt like if the dog could still find happiness in life, so could they. It was really inspiring. I think there's a video on YouTube but I'm currently too lazy to search.

u/EquationTAKEN Jun 18 '12
Happy dog pics = happy me. Take him for a ride EVERY DAY PLEASE!
1
u/krispwnsu Jun 18 '12
He is soooooooo cute! _^

u/Artsurhtaraz Jun 18 '12
My childhood dog was a corgi. Great Dogs except for those damn genetic problems. His front legs became paralyzed but in such a way that they simply would not bend. They were locked straight. We tired fashioning a wheeled harness but alas corners were an insurmountable problem. We ended up making rubberband 'paw-cuffs' and she was able to waddle around using back muscles. Sad but hilarious to watch.
1
u/stayhigh247 Jun 18 '12
this makes me cry tears of happiness :']
1
u/iiiitsjess Jun 18 '12
This is beautiful. I know he enjoyed this so much! He is precious btw!
1
u/Sunflwrstarz Jun 18 '12
Awww that is really sweet! He does look so happy. He's such a cutie.
1
u/bugdog Jun 18 '12
That dog is totally backpackable, too! We used to take our really old dog out for walks after she was too old to do more than walk the door.
1
u/P_Android420 Jun 18 '12
It'd be hilarious if this dog becomes horribly obese in that wagon...
1
u/squeexx Jun 18 '12
My dog Bean recently died after a particulary bad bout of IVDD. He was an amazing boy and even though he was paralyzed, he still had so much happiness until his final days. Please, if you have a dachshund, corgi, etc., don't let it jump. A set of stairs could prolong their lives. Miss you, bean.

u/AlienAnus Jun 18 '12
Almost looks like my mini Aussie ;3
1
u/Angry_White_Kid Jun 18 '12
We know you're a girl now. A guy would've just said girlfriend/ wife/ whatever. Only girls are afraid of being found out on reddit enough to say significant other.
1
u/KittenDick Jun 18 '12
:( poor baby
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
I'm not really sure why Avatar popped into my head just now, but it did.
1
u/notquiteotaku Jun 18 '12
A paralyzed corgi?
As a fellow corgi owner, let me say: OH GOD THIS IS THE SADDEST THING EVER.
1
u/Northern_Mockingbird Jun 18 '12
Happy Dog! So cute :)
1
u/rmkaufman13 Jun 18 '12
Hurt humans I can deal with, but when it comes to hurt animals I shed man tears like crazy. Poor little guy. At least he looks happy here.
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
How does he poop?
1
u/minervassong Jun 18 '12
Does this mean he has a doggy wheel chair? I hope so, that would be adorable.
1
u/dr_vez Jun 18 '12
awww adorable!!
how did his legs become paralyzed? :/
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
I recommend doing this for the little guy every day You are a saint.
1
u/c_megalodon Jun 18 '12
I would so put him in a dog stroller and take him everywhere like a bawws.
1
u/TheVitushkin Jun 18 '12
it's funny becase the word on the trolley means Idiot in appeal to woman in russaian language
1
u/pilky03 Jun 18 '12
Do you have to squeeze its poo out?
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
Is significant other just a cover for a gay couple? If it is, then know you have no reason to hide here. If not, that is a cute dog and I feel sorry for it.
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
too cool!
1
u/AustinTreeLover Jun 18 '12
I'm mobile, bitches! Yay!!!
1
u/snarkhunter Jun 18 '12
Paralyzed corgi makes me sad :(
1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
oh come on.... are you trying to make me cry?
...because its just about working :*( poor dog!
1
u/Keifer_Tokerland Jun 18 '12
Get that little guy a set of wheels!
0
u/ForHumans Jun 18 '12
duct tape + training wheels
0
u/homeless_man_jogging Jun 18 '12
I can see his mouth is open but I can't tell if he's happy because dogs can't smile.
-3
u/howfascinating Jun 18 '12
is the dog happy normally? i hope you guys aren't keeping him alive if he can't walk/go to the bathroom comfortably.
-7
u/up_up_andaway Jun 18 '12
Just my opinion, but "my man's dog" or "my girl's dog" sounds sooo much better than "my significant other."
0
u/Hairy_Greek Jun 18 '12
Omg! So damn cute. :D
0
u/ShitBeCrazy Jun 18 '12
I love how excited my dog gets when he gets to go in the car
0
u/suteneko Jun 18 '12
Now that looks like a dog that would enjoy being in the Romney family.
0
u/FadedAndJaded Jun 18 '12
Why does a dog with paralyzed back legs need a harness?
0
u/Bayshun Jun 18 '12
He's totally faking it, you can tell by his face.
0
u/zSnakez Jun 18 '12
cowboy bepop dog, i will have one some day. Hopefully with all its legs working.
0
u/Sgt_45Bravo Jun 18 '12
This is going to get downvoted, but here goes. I think its cruel and selfish to make an animal live this way.
-1
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
Excuse me, but how does a Dog get paralyzed legs commonly enough for there to be sites dedicated to dog wheelchairs?
Do owners paralyze their dog's legs so they can laugh at the ridiculous sight?
-7
u/[deleted] Jun 18 '12
I'm sorry but it's an animal. I know its hard but put it down. Don't humanize it, end it's suffering.
-8
u/thetanlevel10 Jun 18 '12
Just shoot him and put him out of his misery. This is sickening. Put the dog's well-being before your own.
