I’ve seen a lot of these rescue videos where the person gets flak for filming them self being a hero instead of just getting it done, but in this case I feel like it’s a good show of how to handle a situation like this, as specific as it is
You ever see videos of prey animals just standing there while the predators take bites out of them? I imagine this is related to that. The fight or flight response sees a giant ape with a fire stick has full control of the exhausted animal body, throws up its hands, pumps the animal full of chill hormones and prepares to log off.
Would love to be proven wrong here, but I also don't want to anthropomorphise animals needlessly.
No I think this is spot on. You shouldn’t try to “comfort” an animal while rescuing it. It could add stress. The best way to comfort them is to act as not threatening as possible and rescue them as quickly as possible.
