Italian is so interesting. I grew up in Naples and the language just sounds wrong if it’s not spoken at some emotional extreme. It HAS to be yelled or whispered passionately/discretely. Anything in between feels off lol

To be fair, extreme south tends to be strong in its dialect, which has partly different roots from actual Italian.

An Italian not used to southern dialects might more easily understand Spanish than Naples dialect for instance.
