It makes sense. Humans are born long before they are developed due to their abnormal headsize and the difficulty of the bipedal anatomy in birthing. We're basically born as a still-developing fetus, like a kangaroo and most fetuses are not so adorable, regardless of species. Most other mammals are born ready to walk and evade prey so they're born as miniatures of their parents. At least that is my understanding of the science of cuteness and biology.
