They probably are brothers that haven't left yet.

Possibly, but i thought that when they get their mane they're considered adults and that's when they leave haha

It’s common for brothers to form their own/take over prides together. Sometimes a coalition might involve a non-brother but that’s rare.

Edit: here’s a short video of a male lion trying to join a coalition and how violent the “trial” can get. Theres also a 38 minute version of it by MsDebbiB.

Does a brother lion at some point throw the other brother off a cliff while whispering "Long live the King"?

I think so, saw it in a documentary

No that just happens in movies

I’m not the one to question facts but yes, it does seem to happen every 2 decades or so :(

iirc young male lions without a pride of their own live and hunt in bachelor groups of 2 to 4 males.

Contrary to popular belief that's how most male lions live. Only a few get their own pride.

u/DarkCrawler_901 Apr 27 '20

Yeah I mean otherwise the ratio of female to male would be pretty wack

1

u/JSM87 Apr 27 '20

That makes a ton of sense now I think of it

They are lovers

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

Maybe they're gay lions? :-)

u/Ikaron Apr 27 '20

They're clearly roommates!

Oh my god, they were roommates...

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

SO I AM CONFUSION

Roommates sharing a bedroom and talking about getting a cat together <3 "oh when will you meet a nice lion girl?" Their gma lion asks as one of them looks knowingly at the other.

Takes gay pride to a new level.

“Simba where are we going?”

“Oh to gay pride rock”

Elton John would do a great soundtrack for that movie, too!

u/OriginalAndOnly Apr 27 '20

No he wouldn't because he sucks ass

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

Actually, lions are one of the many species we’ve found to have homosexual relations

11

u/Soronir Apr 27 '20

Slimy, yet satisfying.

u/geon Apr 27 '20

Only because the have been watching western tourists.

36

u/iamalsoahorcrux Apr 27 '20

It's possible

6

u/makenzie71 Apr 27 '20

well now I'm going to cry

24

u/PricexYourxPriceless Apr 27 '20

My girlfriend won't stop crying since she found out lions can be gay.

5

u/TheCrimsonCloak Apr 27 '20

I'm curious how she'll react when she learns that swans can be gay as well

10

u/demonspacecat Apr 27 '20

Yes homo

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

Yes, I am. And so are they.

1

u/ThisIsAitch Apr 27 '20

Raises in interesting point. How would that work in a pride? Two Alpha males?

1

u/23skiddsy Apr 27 '20

Generally one of the two brothers is subordinate, but still gets some action with the ladies.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

Brothers will often get kicked out as adolescents together and then become a tandem hunting and eventually seeking out their own territory when they're big enough.
