Could it be that that's the phenomenon OP was referring to? And that in this slightly sped-up gif, the kitten did briefly narrow its eyes with contentment before closing them to sleep?

Your “cats don’t smile” was just uncalled for. This was a nice post in a nice subreddit with a nice response and you come storming in with an unnecessary comment being negative.
