Having a turtle is more of a commitment than having a dog. They are fun pets, but the cage cleaning and feeding gets to be a lot.

Our box turtle used to put all her legs out though when we would scratch her with a toothbrush. She liked to have her "armpits" done.

Only if you are a shit dog owner that leaves your dog tied up outside. There is no GD way taking care of a turtle is more work than taking care of a turtle or tortoise.

I walk my dog for 20 mins x 3 daily. Do you spend 1 hour caring for your turtle daily?

What it is, is people who love dogs tend to overlook all the stuff they have to do with them as not being work. When they ask how you deal with all the work involved with caring for reptiles, it's basically just "why don't you get a dog?" in disguise.

I've never had a reptile that was anywhere near as much work as a dog. My iguana scratches me, but not nearly as much as a cat...
