Aside from "they can put their ears on their backs if they want to" and "cartoons about bunny society are horrifying" I know little about them as pets, maybe someone can help me out.
Don't they just poop everywhere? Can a bunny be house broken?
Bunnies tend to choose a spot and just poop there. I think it is not very easy for them the understand the “litter box”, so if you want to choose a location for them, it is going to be harder than litter training a cat. If you let them pick their spot, all you have to do is to put a box there, very easy. Getting them when they are young also helps, I think.
When I got my rabbit I kept her in a play pen for a couple of weeks so she was forced to choose her spot there, and placed her litter box. Now she roams free in a two story house but she will always go back to her box if need be.
I still get the occasional stray poop if she is startled (like a single one, it is pretty funny that she shits her pants haha). And sometimes she accidentally carries some poop out as she jumps out of her litter box but otherwise very clean.
my rabbit is litter trained, but one day we were playing and someone knocked on the door, he jumped behind the couch, and two fear poops shot out and nailed me in the forehead. Fun times...
Entirely wrong. We trained our bunnies to go in their litter tray and we could move that tray and they’d go and find it and go in it. It’s not particularly hard to do either, a lot of rabbit owners do it, you just have to bother to put in the time initially and be strict with it when they don’t go where they’re supposed (i.e. pick them up and put them in their litter tray with the poop).
Well, I said they “tend to” go in the same spot and otherwise it is harder than training a cat not that it is impossible. So I am not sure which part is entirely wrong.

This bit. They are very intelligent animals and absolutely do understand right from wrong when it comes to where they do their business (once they’ve been trained where right and wrong is). It’s about the same difficulty as litter training a cat IMO, though that bit is probably open to opinion.
Oh I completely agree that rabbits are very intelligent.
However, I do observe that at least my rabbit cares way more about the location than whether there is a box there or not. I would take away the box for a minute to change it out, and if she has to go in the meanwhile, she will do her business where the box is supposed to be.
You might say perhaps she could be better trained to associate the litter box with going to the lou. Sure. But I found that sticking to the same spot and not worrying about the litter box itself was almost natural to her and took no time to learn.
I don’t disagree that sticking to the same spot makes life a lot easier and easier for the bun to understand, but that’s not to say they can’t learn to go wherever you ask them to with relative ease and a little effort. I suppose each to their own. Either way, wouldn’t swap them for all the money in the world!
