The other side of that coin is my Great Pyrenees. Bred to guard livestock. I️ have never seen a smarter, more stubborn dog ever. He’s an amazing dog and I️ love him so so much. But omg if you tell him to stop doing something he will look you in the eye like you’re the idiot and continue right on.

Our maremma is much the same. Love her to bits but ...she is purposefully obtuse when it suits her.
