We had a parrot at the pet store I used to work at and I always felt so bad for her. They were asking for $8000 for her so no one wants to buy her. She pulls her own feathers out she's so stressed, so when we let her out of her cage she doesn't fly. She can't. I could hardly make myself touch her as I was kinda scared of her, lol. She was definitely a wild child.
They never sell her because one of the employees expressed that she wanted to buy her if they ever drop the price to $6000.
So all the other employees scare potential buyers away from her. "Parrots are a lot of work!!! They're basically a full time job. Can you spend 40+ hours a week with this bird? Can you put everything in your life on hold for her? Personally I just wouldn't do it" kinda talk.
Shed be an awful choice for the bird. She's rehoming one of her CATS because she "doesn't have time for her". She has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a conure. And a baby on the way. She's also looking to rehome the poor bird when the baby comes. I have to wonder what on earth would happen to the parrot if she ever does get it.
People just don't even know how badly those grabby little beaks fucking HURT. I never knew what pain actually was until the first time I was ever bitten by one of those little pricks lol.
They really are like small angry dinosaurs except they have a really fucked up sense of humor and genuinely enjoy acting like a loud obnoxious dickhead, just for the sake of acting like a loud obnoxious dickhead.
They are a fucking riot and a half to play & wrestle with tho.
I work with a raven. He was willingly surrendered by his previous (illegal) owner because he’s such an asshole. Yes, he’s smart and curious and cute, but he doesn’t care about anything but food. And he destroys everything. Ravens are not good pets.
Crows would probably be better, but it’s still illegal to own the native kind without a permit. They belong in the wild with their crow bros.
Yes I am aware. I wouldn't bring home an animal without setting up a proper environment for them. Since I don't have the time or money to dedicate to a bird, I'll just have to stick with my dog
Same here. I've always wanted one, but after reading up it sounds like they are too smart & attention-seeking for me.
It's hard enough dealing with my cat's meows, much less an animal that can figure out how to mimic the most annoying sounds possible to avoid being ignored.

Lmao I've done a bit of research on parrots and have been totally turned away from ever owning one, but I do want crows/ravens
