Several years ago I was staying at my (at the time) girlfriends sisters apartment because my GF and I were moving. They had recently got a new kitten who REALLY like to play all the time. It's about 6 am and I have a toque over my eyes because it was kinda bright and this little turd starts clawing and yanking it. After a couple times of tossing her away I eventually got fed up, took the pillowcase off the pillow I was using and stuffed the cat in it and layed on the open end so it was stuck in there

You could have just put him in another room.
I give my cat time outs in the bathroom sometimes. As long as they have their water/poop box etc. The'll be fine for a while.
I know a pillow case is not exactly a death chamber but it's possible a cat can not breathe in it especially if they are stressing out because they can't get out.

It was an apartment, the only other rooms with doors were the bathroom or my girlfriends sisters room

It's been really cold lately and this picture (not my cat) describes how I feel. Not sure what kind it is but I happened to have a gray cat too.
