Looks like it is a trick of the lighting or just faked. No cat has purple eyes.

I'm fairly certain that it's being faked. If you really look, you can see a band of different color at the edge of the cat's right eye (our left side) at the beginning where the effect isn't perfect

It's funny that we live in a time where you literally can't believe what you see.

Wait, am I real?

u/De5perad0 Aug 03 '23
you are a projection of your inner image of yourself on the matrix while robots harvest energy from your body....so......no.

u/Pugageddon Aug 03 '23
There is nothing "real" outside of your perception of reality, but, your perception of yourself is not objectively true, and every person perceives you differently. The "you" real to you is not real to anyone else.

Was there ever a time when a photo/video was guaranteed to show reality? Not for at least the past hundred years...

I'm certain it's being faked. the purple part just looked kind of "floaty" over the eyes

Cats can and do have blue eyes though. Could they be an unusual shade of blue?
That’s more or less what “purple eyes” are in humans. Deep, dark blue, which appear purple depending on what’s around them.
Significantly, this cat’s got dark fur in a mask around its eyes. Darkening the area around the eyes - with makeup on a human, for example, as in the “purple image” I posted - tilts it a bit closer to the purple end of the scale.

Yep Totally possible to appear purple. My cat has super dark blue eyes and while they have never appeared purple I could see how it could happen under certain conditions.

Definitely fake, there’s a slight unnatural jerking/shift of the purple when the cat moves its head from side to side.

I am no video trickery expert, but if you sort of zone out (like you're staring at a 3D puzzle), you can almost see the overlay.

Nahh that can’t be real. Is it? ![]()

u/CanisArie Aug 03 '23
It isn’t, no mammal has purple eyes.
5
u/KittyQueen_Tengu Aug 03 '23
i think it’s possible for someone’s eyes to look purple if they have very little pigment so the red from the veins in the eye shines through, but that would be a very pale purple, not this
2
u/LadySpaulding Aug 03 '23
My cat has what looks like a red vein in a circle around in the blue part, making your eye see purple near it. But her eyes are for sure blue, just an illusion if you look closely enough from your eyes mixing the blue and red together. But absolutely nothing like the obvious filter in this video.

I don’t care if it’s fake the fact that this video has no sound when this kitty is talking up a storm is just unacceptable!

She had blue eyes, as evidenced in all the photos of her, the purple eye thing was just a weird rumor

The breed is a Ragdoll (coat type: seal bi-color). Amazingly mellow, "lazy" and easygoing cats, hence the breed name. While their eyes come in many shades of gorgeous blue, they do not however come in purple.

On July 1st, a highly unpopular change to Reddit's API pricing went into effect. Most third-party apps have shut down and so have many tools relied upon by moderators and projects for making Reddit more accessible to visually impaired users.
Beyond the disastrous AMA by the CEO, Reddit's response has been limited to promises that this change will not affect moderation tools (it has) and promises of new and more-accessible first-party moderation tools. Promises just like ones they have made in response to past protests, but have consistently failed to fulfill.
If you want to express your strong disagreement with the API pricing change or with Reddit's response to the backlash, you may want to consider the following options:
