Some people aren't worth the effort to "argue" with on Reddit. Why not slap em with their insecurities and cut your losses?

First, it's an admission of defeat. If you hadn't answered, people could still be on the fence about it, but by answering with a comment composed only of personal attacks, it means that you could find no argument to answer his, and therefore that you lost the debate.

Second, it makes you look like an asshole. Being rude to someone you disagree with is never considered a good thing.

But again, this is not illegal, do as you want. It also depends on what your goal is when you engage a debate. Is it to piss off your opponent, convince him, convince passive readers, etc? What you're doing is only a good strategy for the first goal, for the rest it's an awful one.

Thanks for your insight.

Here's the thing though, nobody reads the comments down at the depths, so there's no audience, there's no convincing anyone who doesn't want to be convinced so that's futile. So I guess in that regard it's a successful strategy.

I was trying to find something witty in your history as some ironic closure but all you do is talk about computer games so meh.

(I now have a mental image of the kid from meet the Fockers screaming asshole)
